Make the most of your run.

With Garmin's new Forerunner 10, you're always able to have your running partner on hand. As its lightest-available GPS watch, the Forerunner seemingly disappears once you've put it on, yet it jumps into action when needed. Track your distance, speed/pace, and even your calories with this comfortable, sleek new release from Garmin.

The GPS watch is ready to go the moment that you strap it to your wrist. So, you're able to start your run with the press of a button and watch your time and distance clearly display on one screen, with your calories and pace on another. Or, if you prefer, you're able to customize the Forerunner 10's settings to show pace and distance on the same screen. Another useful feature that's been built into the watch is the feedback provided during various stages of your run. For example, at each mile the watch beeps and a screen flashes your time for that mile. Once you complete your run and save it, you'll see a summary of how you performed. This breakdown shows your total time, distance, average pace, and calories burned. The watch will even alert you when you've reached your personal goals, such as fastest mile or longest run to date.

Additional training tools include a 'virtual pacer' that compares your current running pace to your target pace, and you have a run/walk feature that becomes helpful if you're just starting your run or plan to take walking breaks along the way. You're also able to upload your runs to Garmin Connect through your computer. So, with this free software, you're able to see your runs on a map, get more details, and share running information with your peers, partners, or coach.

The Garmin Forerunner 10 is available in one size and in the colors Green, Pink, and Red. Please note: The Red color's watch face and wristband are slightly larger than the other two colorways.

I absolutely love my Forerunner 10!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I had one of the older generations of this watch and it's greatly improved. The size is perfect for a petite woman and the GPS locates quickly. I've never had to stand around waiting for signal to the GPS. It's simple and easy to use and has all of the features you would want in a basic GPS running watch. I have it connected to Garmin Connect and have been able to see all of my accomplishments and how I've improved as I've gone as well. So far, no complaints and would definitely give this as a gift to any runner friends.

For around $100 this watch seemed like a good deal but was a source of utter frustration as it wouldn't find location at start of runs, would lose GPS in the middle of runs and would change display in the middle of runs.
When new, the watch would synch automatically when plugged into USB, after a few months I had to manually pull up the Garmin app to synch and finally, it stopped synching all together and no longer recognized the device.
I found myself leaving the watch at home and simply using my much more reliable iPhone to track runs. Sorry Garmin, but this is the first and last Garmin product I will ever purchase.

Mixed Experiences

I have had this watch for 2 years now and have had to warranty it once already. The first watch I purchased froze several times for hours on end, would erase my info in the middle of runs, and had a very bad battery life. When I talked to Garmin the guess was that I just received a 'lemon.' I warrantied it and got a new one that has been working much better. I have had no problems with this one working now or randomly erasing my data, but one thing I will say is that the GPS takes ages to load. Once it loads and finds my location it is great, but to get to that point can take several minutes. It's great for the basic uses I need it for, but it is not the most sophisticated, durable watch out there

I'm interested in using this for bicycling. Will it be able to display current speed up to 60 miles per hour (i.e. if I'm descending)?

Does it have a setting that can alert the runner for intervals (i.e. run 6 minutes, rest 1 minute) while also sounding a different alert for each mile?

It has a run/walk interval setting. The notifications for run and walk are the same sound. You can set the lap setting to 1 mile and get a notification that way but the sound won't change every mile.

Nice watch for shorter runs

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this watch hoping to use it for tracking my runs and pacing myself. I was not super impressed with the battery life, but the gps seemed to be accurate. I tried taking it on long hikes to track distances but it would usually die before I made it to the top. I used to have the Garmin forerunner 305 which was a bit large. The forerunner 10 fits much better and is a smaller fit designed for women. I would recommend this watch for runners who are going for a few hours at a time and want a more attractive gps watch compared to others on the market.

Not too happy with the GF10! Twice now I have lost run times/distances because the blasted thing shut down on it's own for no reason. It had battery power.
