Edge Remote

If you've ever tried to change screens or adjust settings on your Garmin while riding, you know that removing your hand to push the right combination of buttons is just an accident waiting to happen. The Garmin Edge Remote was specifically designed to interface wirelessly with your Edge 1000 to make seeing all of your metrics quick and simple.

This simple, three-button remote allows you to mark laps and scroll through pages. Additionally, the third button is programmable from a preset list of functions so that you see exactly what you want to see. It is easily mountable to your handlebars and can sit so you just lift a thumb to press it. Red and green lights indicate button presses, pairing, and sleep modes.

The Garmin Edge Remote comes with two handlebar mounts—one for a road bike and one for mountain. The CR2032 battery is also included.

    Can't use phone connection

I've put it through the wringer

I had a Edge 1000 and on every ride it would stop connecting for a short time and then reconnect. Tolerable. Got a Edge 1030 and it fails to connect most of the time. A quick google search shows that has been known by Garmin for at least a couple of years with no solution except disconnect the phone. When I turn off my blue tooth phone connection it works fine although I lose all the features of having it connected. I've got thousands of miles using it on both devices

Good thing to have for 520

I got one of these remote and love it. I wasn't sure if it would be that useful, but it is. I got multiple bikes but one head unit. Can I have two of these remotes attached to the same 520? Or only one remote be paired to the 520?

    Good concept, poorly executed

I've put it through the wringer

The "hard" mount is undersized and will not fit any oversize handlebars - ridiculous and useless. The quick release mount is similar to the Edge quick release, therefore not a true quick release since you would have difficulty mounting this in the dark. The whole unit seems unnecessarily large and bulky, taking a lot of precious handlebar space for a little convenience. The configuration as a large thick disc limits reasonable mounting options as you could not for example place on or near the brake hoods. A small rectangle would be better. I bought two - one works fine, one will not sync and is being returned.

I think the "hard" mount you mention is meant for mountain bike handlebars. Garmin uses the term "Mountain Bike Mount" for that one and "Road Bike Mount" for the other one.
