My Garmin worked fine in the US, but it can't find its location on earth when it is away from North America. Garmin should advertise that their devices are region specific and should not be taken to Europe or Asia. I tried to reset it, and now it can't even find my phone an the Connect app to be useful as a head unit for my indoor trainer. If if were slightly heavier, I might be able to give it two stars as a very blingy paperweight, but I cannot even recommend it for that function. One of these days I will learn that the Garmin Ecosystem is really more of a jungle designed to entangle you without providing the functionality they promise. I need to find a bike computer that actually includes GPS, unlike the Garmin. Any suggestions. I wanted to connect to Strava, but I have learned that this device does not support connection to Strava. I checked with Strava, and sure enough: the Edge 1030 cannot do segments on Strava: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/223361887-Strava-Live-Segments-Compatible-Devices. I wish I had known before I bought one.

The Garmin works as it is intended to. In order to run strava live segments you need to run a strava route. You can do that via the IQ Strava app, or create the route in Strava and if it is connected with Garmin Connect, all starred routes will load the next time you sync (older routes will need to be re-starred). You don't see the Edge 1030 plus on the listing your link provides because that listing was published before the new 1030 plus came out. As for the GPS, it often takes a while in a new area of the world, especially if you say fly across the ocean with it. In any event, if you sync the device to GC, it will geo tag your location and download the latest satellite info for that area for quicker loading. If you are having issues connecting it to your phone, it is helpful to completely remove it from your phones storred BT devices. Then add it back via the GC app. It might be nuanced to some, but once you have a handle on how Garmin products work they are usually bomb proof. Good Luck.

I use mine all the time with Strava - https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-D9E9CF32-5A89-4140-8B6A-0A61633E397F/EN-US/GUID-DEA9D7BA-F9C6-4291-A523-825AB1536A09.html#:~:text=You%20can%20download%20Strava%E2%84%A2,your%20Garmin%20Connect%E2%84%A2%20account. Main thing you have to do on Strava is tag one you want to have as favorites.
