Description

Precise.

FSA's SLK MTB Stem is designed to balance weight, stiffness, and durability to confidently support your handlebars. Its precise, CNC-machined aluminum construction allows FSA to minimize excess materials, and thereby minimize weight without the price tag associated with carbon or titanium options.

To guarantee rigidity, FSA 3D-forges the aluminum stem body, a process that starts with one piece of aluminum that is bored out and shaped internally. This improves the aluminum's grain structure and eliminates the use of welds for drastically reduced weight. The benefits to you are a heightened stiffness with weight comparable to carbon fiber at a considerably lower cost. To maintain the flow of weight savings, the SLK MTB uses a carbon fiber face plate with titanium hardware.

  • A durable, lightweight, aluminum stem
  • Singl-piece construction for increased reliability
  • Carbon fiber face plate and titanium hardware reduce weight

Long time FSA customer

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Been a long time FSA component customer and this stem is light and looks good. Being alloy, it will last longer and it's been put it through the wringer.

Nice stem, quality control lacks a bit.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this stem to get lower on my Salsa Fargo, the -12° and low stack height were exactly what I was looking for. Pros: This stem has a very nice look in my opinion. Very light (114g on my scale for the 70mm). Very low stack height, 34mm on my caliper. Cons: Stem arrived with sharp burrs where it was milled on the inside (so take some time and check yours before installation), I debuured mine with a fine round file and 220 grit sand paper. The description on both FSAs website and Competitive Cyclist lists titanium hardware, it is steel hardware which I verified with a magnet (I prefer steel hardware anyway) and even with the steel hardware it’s very light.
