The connection between your steering tube and your handlebars is an important one. While you don't want a fragile, paper-mâché piece of flimsy kit that will snap under your first big effort, you also don't want a five-pound monster. FSA addresses this by using a favorite material in the aerospace industry to make the Energy Stem both lightweight and extremely reliable, because there's enough random debris on the road trying to make you crash. You shouldn't have to worry about your equipment failing, too.
The Energy Stem is made from 3D forged 2014 aluminum. 2014 is one of the strongest lightweight alloys in the world, making it a favorite in the aerospace industry. Its desirable qualities come at a cost, though; it's difficult to work with. The engineers at FSA don't let that stop them, and their efforts are rewarded during the final manufacturing step of CNC machining, which is a painless process with 2014.
The stem is finished with areas of sandblasted and high-gloss black, and the SL faceplate is secured with four titanium screws. The clamp diameter is 31.9 and the rise is ±6 degrees. The stack height is 40 millimeters.
The FSA Energy Stem is available in six sizes ranging from 80mm to 130mm in the color Red Logo.
