36 Float 29 Grip 2 Factory Boost Fork - 2020

You're probably well aware of just how supportive and plush the FOX 36 Float feels when you're pushing the limit on everything from fast flow trails to the gnarliest tech this side of a dual-crown fork. With its stiff chassis and extremely smooth damping, the 36 makes quick work of even the most challenging terrain. The 36 Float 29 Grip 2 Factory Boost Fork is FOX's flagship model, equipped with Kashima-coated stanchions, the top-level Grip 2 damper with Variable Valve Control, low-friction seals, and a supportive mid-valve design that resists brake dive when the trail gets steep.

The Grip 2 damper with Variable Valve Control gives you four separate knobs to independently tune the high/low-speed compression and high/low-speed rebound. The additional high-speed rebound damping circuit helps to control how fast you'd like the fork to rebound after taking a bigger hit, so you can better prepare for bike park days and fast downhill runs where you'll be maxing out your fork's travel. On the high/low-speed compression side of things, there's a bit larger range in tunability, so you can precisely dial in you level of support without any harshness detracting from your ride.

The current 36 Float with Grip 2 has a lower friction level for improved small-bump sensitivity and heightened traction on rugged trails. FOX aimed to lower the friction from their previous 36 Float by using low-friction seals alongside their buttery-smooth Kashima coating. The revised mid-valve design in the Grip 2 damper also improves performance, helping the fork resist brake dive when you're coming in hot and need to scrub some speed before leaning into a berm or rolling down a steep rock line.

This particular model of 36 Float Factory Fork continues to use FOX's EVOL air spring, which has increased negative air spring volume for better traction and higher levels of small-bump compliance when you're riding over rocks and roots. It's available specifically for 29ers, giving you the option to choose between 51 and 44-millimeter offsets to best suit your bike's handling characteristics and geometry figures. The fork uses Boost spacing for added stiffness and clears tires up to 2.6-inches wide if you'd like to run wider trail rubber.
