Adaptable.

Over six-and-a-half inches of travel should be enough to keep you and your enduro monster upright as you barrel through nearly impassable lines. But you won't be spending your entire ride descending, so you need a fork that can help you out on the flats and the rare, laborious climbs as well. It should come as no surprise that FOX Racing Shox has this precipitous balance confidently dialed. The 36 Float 27.5 170 HSC/LSC FIT Fork is able to react quickly on repetitive bumps and fire road transitions while delivering a welcome dose of cush when your landing pad is a rock garden.

The 36 Float sees few changes for 2017, so it retains the efficient, lightweight chassis design along the crown and lowers that earned it rave reviews when first introduced. Installation remains simple and streamlined, with the 36 Float requiring little-to-no alterations to your bike's front end geometry. FOX trusts its dual-chamber, self-equalizing Float Air spring once again in the 36 Float. It shaved weight over its predecessor by replacing the negative coil with a second air chamber, and it requires less force to initiate travel than previous versions. If quick initiation is only part of the story for you, FOX also gives you the freedom to offset it with volume spacers to make the fork ramp-up harder and get the exact behavior you need out of your fork.

All-mountain and enduro bikes continue to defy categorization more than ever each year, so to guarantee the 36 Float versatility worthy of your do-it-all frame, FOX includes its HSC/LSC FIT damper to let you control high-speed and low-speed compression. You can adjust it to fine-tune the fork's behavior through everything from crater-lined singletrack to torturous, smooth climbs — it won't do the work for you, but it'll help you avoid wallowing in too much cush when you need firm responsiveness.
