Same iconic stiffness, now with greater sensitivity.

It's difficult to imagine the suspension gurus at FOX improving upon the iconic legacy and performance of their 36 Float Fork, seeing its unbelievable success in the worlds of enduro racing and aggressive all-mountain riding. However, after seeing the integration of EVOL technology into their 36 Float's air spring, we'd be hard pressed to doubt their motives. EVOL technology is borrowed from FOX rear shocks, making an already stout fork all the more sensitive to small bumps and trail imperfections at the top of its stroke.

It retains impressively stiff 36-millimeter stanchions, deflecting torsional forces from bucking you silly across gnarly rock gardens, stupidly steep descents, and bigger park hits. These stanchions employ FOX's Kashima coating for heightened small-bump sensitivity, as well as greater durability when you're thrashing your all-mountain/enduro rig on a regular basis.

The Fit4 damper uses a slightly revised tune with a reconfigured shim stack making it all the more sensitive to inconsistent terrain and small bumps on the trail. Another benefit to this reconfigured design, it's easier than ever to swap volume spacers, as FOX eliminated a seal that you'd normally have to remove in order to add or remove spacers. This is a great feature, as riders of the 36 Float generally seek added progressiveness in the stroke of the fork, especially for bigger hits and rowdy downhill sections.

This particular 36 Float enjoys the 3-position adjustability of its Fit4 damper, which gives you the option of running it Open, Medium, or Firm. In Open mode, you'll find 22 clicks of low-speed compression damping, which is great for dialing in your exact riding preferences to the terrain at hand. Medium gives you a bit more efficiency on those long climbs and smooth trails where stiffening up the front end makes sense. Firm is a practical lock-out, which comes in handy for fire road climbs and asphalt road approaches to the trail.
