We don't like to play favorites, but we have a hard time arguing that any another wheel size is as versatile as 27.5. It's not that we doubt the capabilities of a 29er barreling down a crater-filled descent or the nimbleness of 26in wheels on a root-latticed climb, but 27.5's are capable of doing both of those things. For 2017, FOX aimed to standardize the technology being offered across its line, adopting Boost spacing, which was only just being introduced last year when it revamped its 2016 line, across the rest of its forks. Since it introduced a few pretty significant changes last year, FOX didn't see a need to overhaul anything for 2017, and the 34 Float's lineup of features remains reassuringly unchanged. With 51mm of rake, you'll enjoy the benefits of reduced trail for your bike, resulting in less "dead" space between the steering axis and hub and a bike that dances, rather than lumbers, across technical lines.

Like last year, the 2017 34 Float includes FOX's FIT4 system for switching between Firm, Medium, and Open settings, which keep the fork riding high in its travel for quick, controlled recovery during everything from big blasts to tight, bumpy stretches. The Open setting provides its own range of sub settings, allowing you to take advantage of the fork's confidence and all of its travel across a diverse mix of trail conditions. Plus, you'll have FOX's self-equalizing air spring, which still enjoys the weight savings of omitting a steel coil.
