Ranger Short

The Ranger Shorts are among Fox Racing's most popular items because they're the shorts that so many of us cut our own trail teeth on. For 2018, Fox improved the formula, updating fit and pushing the fabric into a new realm of stretch and durability. The result is a more pedal-friendly platform that's still every bit as happy to tackle trails from Vancouver's famed North Shore to Moab's rocky mesas.

The Ranger still sits right at the knee, with ample room to pedal and stretch out without it being baggy like a gravity-specific short, but the waist is updated with an external adjustment strap in the front. That fit is now easier to dial on the fly, even if you can only spare one hand for waistband fiddling.

Despite the changes, a few things return. Fox's Rider Attack Position (RAP) construction—though updated here—is patterned to promote fluid movements while pedaling and descending, ensuring you're flexible while riding across technical terrain. The Ranger Shorts also still include a detachable liner with the same EVO chamois for a plush, shock-absorbing feel across jarring bumps and rugged outcroppings.

  • Mountain bike shorts for trail days the world over
  • Updated RAP fit further enhances pedaling and movement
  • High-stretch body material keeps your days restriction-free
  • Pockets for trail essentials and the all-important snack
  • Removable liner with chamois lets you decide how deep you want to go

I ordered a 32 and these were a full 5 inches too large around the waist. There is way too much fabric in the inseam and the cut in general is just confusing. Who is this made for? Pockets that don't zip closed, and no zipper in the crotch. I guess with a chamois it wouldn't matter, just seems weird.

These come with a decent chamois, fit great, are built tough and stretch just enough. When size 34 goes on sale, I’ll be buying more!

Fox Ranger Shorts aren't what they were

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

The newest version of these shorts don't hold up (I have had many pairs over the years). The padding in the liner comes undone and folds all up under the stitching to one side in the back. This happened to me in 10-15 rides. Worst part about it is Fox Racing doesn't stand by their products. Maybe a mfg defect with them not glueing it or something but the concerning things is Fox's response to me- wouldn't buy their products.

    Nice

Already bought the Cargo version of this shorts, as their cousins, they are really good, but with less pockets Breathable, confortable, good fit, great space on pockets. Overall I love them, I often use this ones on rides when I don't need to bring much and the cargo when need to carry more stuff So if you usually don't bring much stuff on your rides, these are the perfect ones for you

    Good Short

Picked a pair of these up and have been pretty happy with them. The fit well and have a couple pockets to keep what I need when riding. The buckle thing took some getting used to, but it's held up.

    Great Shorts

    Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these shorts for my boyfriend who wanted to get into mountain biking. He was put off by it the first time we went because of the discomfort from the seat. These shorts solved that problem immediately! They are comfortable and have great support.

    Durable, Breathable, Comfortable

Bought a pair of these shorts a little over a month ago and I am highly pleased. I'm 5'8'' 160 lbs and have a 32'' waist and these fit perfectly. They have that baggy feel and hang just below the knee but the built in liner and easily adjustable strap around the waist of the shorts makes them fit snug. They seem to function equally as well in both the cooler early morning rides and the hot and sweaty afternoon rides. You might think the stretchy material of these shorts might not last in rocky and stick ridden terrain but so far they have held up with a few launches over the handlebars onto rock ridden dirt.

    Great Fit Great Short

These are my go-to short for all types of riding. The chamois is great, the shorts are great and the pockets are also great. I wear a 32 in pretty much everything and the fit was spot-on here as well. If you need a pair of bike shorts, grab these.
