Description

Proframe Helmet

As much as we'd like to, we all can't be a part of the Atherton family. While their smooth, speed-hungry gene pool will always amaze and forever elude us, we can put our own mediocre genes to work on rough and rowdy DH trails knowing our grey matter's protected with Fox Racing's ultralight, MIPS-equipped Proframe Helmet. Don't be surprised if it inspires you to send a little harder, whether in your own backyard or deep in the Welsh countryside.

As the lightest DH lid ever made by Fox, the Proframe comes with the same full-face, fixed visor protection of a classic DH bucket—albeit in a more streamlined design that won't leave you with your head hanging after an all-day ride. Its low weight means that even if you ride more towards the enduro end of the spectrum, you won't sacrifice time in a race for upgrading to DH-level protection. Fox also punches 24 Big Bore vents into the Proframe's shell, making sure you don't feel like you're trying to ride in an astronaut helmet when you're grinding it out on a long, rocky ridge climb before a serpentine descent.

  • Ride with full DH protection without the bulk
  • Dual-density Varizorb EPS broadly distributes impact
  • MIPS inner basket helps disperse rotational energy
  • Fixed visor and chin bar provide protection with airflow
  • 15 intake and 9 exhaust vents keep air moving continuously
  • Fidlock SNAP buckle made to be operated with gloves

perfect

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large

I love this helmet I wear it from local XC rides to downhill parks. Honestly you cant tell that its a full face there is no breathing restrictions like most full face. With all the different pads it comes with I've been able to make it fit my head perfectly. I highly recommend this helmet to anyone wanting more protection without sacrificing comfort.

perfect

Good ventilation and fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great ventilation. I would say this is a great all around full face. Definitely a good helmet that I've done long climbs in and didn't get too hot. The inside pads could be a little better, some of them don't snap into helmet very well. Overall great helmet, some features could be better quality.

sick

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

recomend sizing can be fitted to head sizes in each range for a perfect fit

Saved me in crash

I was jumping and I hit a decent size gap jump that I had done many times and went OTB straight on the top of my head without getting a chance to put out my hands. Luckily all that happened was the the helmet broke and I was totally fine besides a sore neck. It passed the crash test and did it's job so I would definitely recommend it. It is also great with heat, it keeps you cool and makes you feel sendy.

    The Go Anywhere-Do Anything Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I'd tried this on at a trade show to get a feel for it, but let's be honest here. Aside from fit what questions can you REALLY answer by just trying it on? So I bought it. Suffice to say I was incredibly surprised. I wanted a new brain bucket for when trails in Utah decide to get rowdy, and this thing is great for spontaneous rowdyness. It's incredibly lightweight and breathable. You can see that from the design and the cutouts, but to actually feel the difference while you're pedaling is incredible. Especially when we're used to full face helmets that are the worst thing you could add to your collection on a summer day. The Proframe is unrivaled, and the amount of time I've spent in this helmet because of it's versatility is great. You can pedal uphill without getting heat exhaustion, and trust that you're incredibly safe on the descents!

    Full-Time Full Face Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have been using a Troy Lee Designs A-1 helmet, and wanted a full-face for those riskier trails. I really feel the Proframe is light enough and cool enough to always use. I am really liking it. My goggles (Oakley Airbrake MX) fit great, but did get a little warm. I figured out how to slide the goggles up, right below the visor, and that gave me the needed air during climbs or stops. The goggles are still in view, when popped up below the visor, but I felt they were out of the way enough when I needed to open up and get some air. They fit well with glasses too.

    Full-Time Full Face Helmet

Full face that's breezy and works

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Had a pretty big crash in this helmet. Cracked the chin bar and 2 places on top of the helmet around my forehead. Had a concussion but was not unconscious. The bad review bc the guy was unconscious isnt very fair in my opinion. It's light enough to use for long climbs in the middle of summer in the south without heating up much more than with a half shell. If you do 100% downhill, hi speed lo drag, don't get a light helmet with vents all over it, you're not pedaling anyway. I'd get a dirt bike helmet for that type of riding. This helmet works very well for what it was designed for.

Full face that's breezy and works

    Great Recommendation from CC

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I wanted my own helmet for a 4 day Whistler Bike Park trip and the online chat with CC suggested the Pro-Frame. Besides a great deal, its been a great helmet - good ventilation (some people I know go XC with theres!) and solid protection - got me through Whistler, Downiville and the local bike parks!

100% goggles are a little small for the opening - makes it tougher to slide the system on/off.

    Great Recommendation from CC

    Look no further

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wasn’t sure which full face I should get, so of course I asked the pros at backcountry. They recommended this one. It is SUPER light and super comfy, lots of vents. It feels plenty sturdy to me and I feel like unless you are an absolute downhill cliff jumping massive hit psycho it is plenty of protection, especially for the comfort and weight. I would say it pretty much feels true to size, I got a large like I always do and it’s perfect. When I was a kid I smashed my whole face mountain biking and ever since try to wear a full face where it’s realisticaly convenient. I wear it all day on resort days and at other times when other friends simply aren’t comfortable in their full face, so sometimes they are chancing it while I’m poretected. Most of the time I hardly notice I’ve got it on. I would recommend this if you can afford it, also did I mention the vents are amazing for hot days.

    Great Breathable Fullface

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have spent quite a bit of time in this helmet, including some long climbs. It's by far the most breathable fullface/enduro helmet that I've ridden. Make no mistake, this helmet was not built to replace your full downhill helmet, but I am more than confident in it's ability to protect me on the more rugged enduro style of riding (feel far more protection than my open face setup). I also noticed a lot of complaints on fit but the helmet feels great on my head.

    Great Breathable Fullface

    chose over the giro switchblade

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First was fit, the giro just didnt fit my head, it happens.. .
The rest is on paper, the fox is significantly lighter, and has more air flow.
my opinion is if you need to have a full face handy, you dont need the chin guard to come off. The fox proframe has all sorts of Chin bar flow and room to stick hydration hose in the front hahaha! The half shell of the giro is so big and covered all of your head, it's hot with or without the chin bar. the fox is a little cooler and I already have a half shell without ear coverage for hot, non-full face days. I'm an amateur rider, by no means a pro. but this is a great all around helmet, especially for shuttle days.
Theres no boa style sinch in the back like the giro, I dont mind it. the mips liner is different and fits fine. but if you're in between sizes it might be a hard fit. try one on at your local shop if you can, to get the right size
4 stars because they didnt have the color I totally wanted on sale hahaha its a solid 4.5 helmet!
overall I would say fit for me was spot on, needed a medium, and I have room for my hair to grow a little, or maybe a thin liner on chilly days. but not lose when it's short.

    chose over the giro switchblade

    Heck yes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Super light weight. Using it for downhill in the summer and haven’t had any problems with it being too heavy or hot. The pads inside are pretty thick, and it comes with two sizes so getting a bigger or smaller size would still work if you need to share with someone. Wrecked face first once so far on it and it was fine. No head or facial injuries. So far I’m really digging it!

    Chads Proframe

Awesome helmet, used for downhill, I love the different thickness padding for dialed in fit! Comes with thicker and thinner cheek and neck pads! Sick styling and FOX quality as always!!!

    Chads Proframe

    This puppy breathes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Lightweight and doesn't feel like you're wearing a full face. oh yeah it also has mips, what more could you want in a helmet?

    Lightweight

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I brought this helmet to ride enduro style/mellower DH trail and feel like it's the perfect helmet. I would highly recommend this helmet as a lightweight option for people who want to rip tech trails and go somewhat big on jumps. If you're going to be dropping huge drops or hitting large gaps, I would recommend a different helmet.

    Airy and light!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I've worn a large in most helmets and the large worked well here too. It comes with multiple pads in 3 thickness so you can have a "small" temple with a large neck area, etc.

Pads were easy to swap but I haven't laundered them yet, that's when you really know.

My only gripes are the acoustics and finish. The helmet is super loud when you go through branches, leaves, etc it's like having your head in a snare drum. The finish is not lasting so long but totally cosmetic.

    Awesome!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is amazing. Great for bike parks and enduro riding

    awesome helmet!

it’s light and lots of ventilation i never felt hot while wearing it. my go to lid when i xc, trail, downhill and bmx riding. certainly very satisfied with this helmet. and did i mention it’s a very cool stylish lid?

      awesome helmet!

      Awesome helmet

      • Fit: True to size

This helmet is awesome, best ever. We even made youtube video about the awesome helmet, check out the video on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NGzrIRrE4o

      Lightweight Protection

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Full protection and MIPS technology offers plenty of protection while riding downhill terrain. The oversized vents allow tons of air flow, keeping you comfortable while pedaling on warm days.

This helmet includes multiple pad options to ensure you get the perfect fit; with a thick, medium, and thin thickness.

I would recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a lightweight and protective helmet.
