Everybody knows Five Ten makes the stickiest rubber around, but the company is more renowned for making climbing, approach, and biking shoes than casual kicks like the Sleuth Shoes. That said, Five Ten's casual is different than most brands'. The Sleuth is down to kick back, but its sticky Stealth Marathon rubber helps it grip like a fiend to skate decks and dirt-jumping pedals, so you can rock it as a one-shoe quiver for all your chilled-out adventures.

  • Casual shoe that's down to hit the trails or dirt jumps
  • Low-profile suede upper adds style and durability
  • Non-marking Marathon rubber outsole offers tacky grip
  • Micro-Dotty tread pattern keeps feet from slipping on the pedals
  • EVA midsole provides a stiff and supportive platform

12 is not big enough

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 12

They don’t make them bigger than 12 either which is sad. Other wise they feel great would recommend for smaller feet.

Casual MTB shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First pair of MTB shoes and they're definitely grippy compared to regular shoes. Love the casual look, can wear everyday. Downside is the suede gets super dusty/dirty after a ride.

Casual looks, great performance

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great bike shoe that you can still wear everyday. My only wish is that they vented just a bit better.

Very nice

Very nice shoe - good on the bike but also great for walking around and look good with jeans, shorts, even khakis (the blue at least). I frequently bike to work and while not a dress shoe by any means these are at least acceptable in the office, I don't like having to change shoes in order to commute by bike.

slight difference from last year model?

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

the shoe is still similar but the material seems to be a little more stiff, and the tongue has different material on the inside of the tongue.
i have not broken in this shoe yet so things may change and get more comfortable than they are now.

    comfortable casual

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9.5

I wear this shoe casually around town/office and on my road bike and stay comfortable all day. I have a wide foot and the toe box gives plenty of room and I like the functional yet casual styling.

    Unanswered Question

Should I size up in these shoes? I usually wear a 12. Doesn't look like 12.5 is an option so a little hesitant to size up to a 13. But have read multiple reviews around the net that they definitely run small.

Like all 5.10 shoes with stealth rubber you can count on the overwhelming amount of grip that you will have. Great comfortable, good looking shoes. 10/10 would buy again.

I'm usually a size 9.5, but had to size up to a 10

    skate & bike shoe

very sticky sole have not slipped on pedals, and this shoe is a great low profile shoe
it is not as bulky or protective as a MTB shoe

      Look Sharp in Person

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I've got the darker gray version with the neon hits. I love the mellow and muted look of the shoes and had no intentions of using them for sport. They are a clean and simple design and are very comfy. The sole is very grippy, you'll track whatever you step on into the house for sure. So much rock salt this winter....

      Mountain shredding or whatever

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I've always mountain biked in Vans and thought they gripped fine... until I got these. My first experience with "stealth" rubber, and it really is all it's cracked up to be. I have these paired with downhill style platform pedals with aggressive pins, and I feel totally locked in when the going gets sketchy. Especially when your shoes get wet, the difference is really night and day over any traditional sort of rubber. I haven't slipped off a pedal once since I got these.

I love the low-key styling, too. I was always hesitant to get Five Ten Freeriders despite the glowing reviews because they're so damn ugly (if the product designer happens to read this, sorry - just one man's opinion). These are much lower profile and more appropriate to wear to the bar after your ride. Or just to wear around town - I throw these on when I'm pedaling around running errands all the time.

The other big difference between these and your run of the mill skate shoe is the stiffness of the sole. They're not so stiff you can't walk in them, but they are definitely designed with biking in mind. The sole is stiff enough to really help with power transmission when you're pedaling up and give you a more solid feeling when you're navigating some sketchy terrain on the way back down.

If you run flat pedals and you're looking to replace a ratty, smelly, worn-out old pair of skate shoes you've been riding in, look no further!

Fit was spot-on true to size for me.

      Truly a one shoe quiver

I recently bought these shoes and could not be happier. You can rock the trails on the mountain bike and then wear the shoes into the office later that same day. Hiking? No problem. Looking dope? They nail it too. I have been very happy with my Five Ten shoes.
