Why We Like The Freerider Pro Primeblue Cycling Shoe

We throw on our Freerider pro’s from FiveTen in any bike situation, from running to the coffee shop or hitting the next alpine descent. These shoes are most comfortable in the bike park, though, and their skate-shoe style sole keeps us glued to the pedals for maximum efficiency.

  • Mainstay riding shoes come back in a eco-friendly design
  • Upcycled material makes up 50% of the shoe composition
  • Medium flex midsole offers ideal daily riding flex rating
  • Stealth Outsole rubber grips the pedals with confidence

really wanted these to work. However, after multiple attempts and adjustments - they will not work. I have other 5/10's and they are so much better. These repeatedly put my feet to sleep every time.

These shoes look great, the fit is awesome and I love what the Primeblue aspect is trying to achieve. However these shoes utterly fail at having any pedal grip. 15 seconds into my first decent I knew something was wrong. My feet kept sliding off the pedals during chunky sections. Any kind of bunny hop was a literal roll of the dice if your feet would slide off and the pedal would smash your shin. Loos like I bought a really expensive pair of walking shoes.

I have been wearing freerider pro shoes for 3 years until they disappeared last year. I was really excited to see them come back this year. I bought the primeblue version because if I can make a choice to help the environment I will. These shoes are not freerider pro shoes except for in name. They look like freerider pros but they have the worst pedal grip of any flat shoe I have ever worn. I have tried these shoes with two different sets of pedals to see if just a bad pedal match and they were awful on both. On freerider pros I may have one slipped foot off a pedal in a month across 16 - 20 rides. On the last two rides with these shoes I slipped my foot on the pedal over 10 times on each ride. These shoes are dangerous. I am going to be attempting to return them. They are hands down worst flat pedal shoes I have ever worn.

Is this material less waterproof than the standard leather version?

Hi. Will these shoes hold up with metal tooth-grip pedals?

Yes, the stealth outsole rubber is the world's leading performance shoe rubber that is meant to last, even against aggressive flat pedals!
