No clips needed.

Stealing the throne from Five Ten's Freerider, the Freerider Pro Men's Cycling Shoe ups the ante with extra toe protection and an even faster drying, weather-resistant upper. As with its predecessor, this shoe adds subtle styling to technological features made to shred the gnarliest of trails. In a world of neon trimmings and flashy personalities, these shoes let your riding skills take center stage.

Five Ten's non-marking Stealth S1 dotty rubber outsole provides excellent grip to keep your feet securely on the pedals. It's also built to endure the prodding from the metal spikes on your pedals all day, meaning it'll outlast the gum rubber sole on a conventional skate shoe every time and stick better to your pedals.

  • A grippy-soled freeride shoe
  • Sticky, durable Stealth S1 rubber sole
  • Synthetic upper dries quickly
  • Reinforced toe box resists impacts
  • Comfortable Ortholite liner supports and cushions

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Great shoe. Crazy grippy. Can’t beat it. May look for additional ankle support if they still make this in a high top.

True to size

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

A lot of review say to order a half size or more bigger. I wouldn't recommend that and I have a slightly wide foot, I ordered a half size bigger and had to take them back. should have just ordered my normal size

Best platform pedal shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 12

I’ve been riding 5.10 for years. My last pair served me well for 3 seasons and felt sticky the whole time, but fresh rubber literally feels like glue. I forgot how sticky these are when new. I’ll never ride another brand as long as I’m on platforms.

Size 14, First ride just now, SO SO GOOD

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Coming off brooks tennis shoes and having never owned a mountain bike specific shoe. I researched the market and bought the black/red freerider pro in sz 14 two days ago.

Just finished the first couple hour ride, and had to give a review. The rubber is SO sticky and the sole is so much stiffer than a tennis shoe. Using these paired with my Deity flats are absolutely amazing.

Wonderful purchase, way more grip/confidence, way more pedal efficiency, they're comfortable, and they look awesome in person...feeling of very high quality and durable. If you're in doubt, jump on it! They run true to size. You won't regret it!!! Can't wait to put more miles on these :)

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Great flat pedal shoes for enduro ride. Nice stiff sole and sticks to the pedals. Average when it comes to hiking your bike up hills. For flat pedal shoes, it's still one of the best on the market right now.

Best Flat Shoe Out

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been super impressed with these shoes so far. I have been using the Freerider Canvas shoes by Five Ten for the past few years and while they were good, I was looking for something a bit more performance-based rather than a glorified skate shoe. The Freerider Pros are a slimmed down, stiffer version which is great for someone looking to pedals uphill as much as descend without clipless pedals. The soles have that grip that I've come to love with passed FIve Ten shoes as well.

Comfort and Performance

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Five Ten has many flat pedal shoe options, but this one in my mind is the best. The Stealth rubber sole grips the pedals a perfect amount. The soles are not as sticky as the Freerider Contacts, which I actually prefer as I am able to micro adjust my foot if my placement is not quite right. I also prefer the stiffness of this model and outside material vs the traditional Freerider model, as the sole is stiffer and the upper is not canvas giving it more support, easier to clean, and slightly water resistant. I've put over 100 days in these shoes so far and while there is some slight separation happening between the edge of the shoe and the sole, the sole has held up to harsh pedals spikes and long hike a bikes. I would highly recommend especially if you are switching from clipless and prefer a stiffer shoe.

Best so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have had 2 previous generation pairs of Freeriders, and these are by far the best. I like that they are slimmed down, and easy to clean. Grip is classic 5:10. Like them so much that I wear them as casual shoes quite a bit too.

Enhanced looks w/ 5.10 quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I just retired my Impact Pros after a couple of years of use. I have been stoked on the Freerider Pro...they are light, provide tons of grip, and have a reinforced toe for rock strikes. They can be a little warm on hot days but a small compromise for what is otherwise a really comfortable shoe. I found the fit to be comparable to the previous 5.10s that I have owned. If you like 5.10 shoes, you will not be disappointed.

sweet and sticky

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 11

My son loves these shoes for all of his enduro riding and racing. The soles are super stick and hold their position on his pedals during the craziest of trails. They breath well and the construction is bomb proof.

sweet and sticky

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been riding clipless pedals for years. But after a few years of riding flats on my fat bike I wanted to give them a try on my regular bike. These things stick to flat pedals like glue. I am never going back to clipping in. Get these, you will never regret it.

I was using truk shoes for my flats and my feet always fell off my peddles I new I needed better shoes for MTB but couldn’t decide which ones to get. I bought these because they were on sale. When they arrived the rubber felt almost as stiff as my truk shoes. I was a bit skeptical that they would perform the same as my truk. I went for test ride rode some gnar went over jumps and these shoes as stiff as they were brand new did not come of my peddles. It made a huge difference and now I’m more confident going faster down black mountain.

Great trail shoe for flat pedals

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Legendary grip of 5.10 in a nice lightweight slim package. This is the perfect shoe for trail riders who prefer flat pedals instead of clips. If you're looking for a DH or bike park shoe - I recommend going with something a bit beefier like the stealth high, which provide some additional ankle & toe protection.

Just Right

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is the best shoe that Five Ten makes, which arguably makes this the best shoe out for mountain biking on platform pedals. I've worn out plenty of pairs of Five Tens over the past decade, including a few pairs of Impacts and a pair of Impact VXI's. I've also racked up plenty of miles in Freeriders and Freerider Contacts. Thus far, the Freerider Pro is my hands down favorite by a significant margin.

They're sticky and supportive like the Impacts, but a bit softer in the midsole, which translates into better pedal feel. They're also dramatically lighter. They're stiffer than the Impact VXI, Freerider, and Freerider Contact, all of which cause my feet to cramp due to the lack of support. As compared to the rest of the Five Ten lineup, the upper has proven to be much more durable and more resistant to taking on moisture.

I've been wearing the same pair since February 2017, riding 2-3 times per week consistently and running a pretty aggressive pedal pin setup, and the sole is finally starting to tear under the ball of the foot. I highly doubt that any competing shoe would have held up this long.

At this point, I'd pay retail for these rather than accept anything else for free. Shoes are a crucial contact point when you're riding flats, and the Freerider Pros are really in a league of their own.

Best MTB flat shoes I've owned so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I don't know what took me so long to buy a pair of these, all I know is that I wish I bought them sooner. these shoes really are excellent flat pedal shoes. there comfortable, with a stiff bottom and man do they grip those pins. they literally stick to them. I can't speak for longevity. I've only ridden in them about 20 times, time will tell. the two gripes I have with them, I hate laces (this is a personal thing) the big issue is they retain heat. they definitely need better ventilation which is why I give them 4 stars instead of five stars

Flat Pedal Shoes that grip!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased these for riding my mountain bike with flats and they work great! The perfect amount of grip and rigidity. I wore these to the gym and I was surprised the black soles left marks all over the basketball court? Weird. I thought all shoes nowadays did not leave marks. Oh well, I did not get them for hoops...

Great Mountain Bike Shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These shoes are nice and grippy. They make the pedals feel clip less without having clips.

Five Ten must have

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

a shoe that is designed for Mt bikers no need to say anything else

YES do it

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had the freeriders and other shoes. This is the first pair that I feel are stiff enough. The toe box is strong too. Can't beat 5.10

Sooooo Comfy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are crazy comfy, and have proven to be quite durable too. I have been wearing mine for about a year now and they are solidly built. Loads of grip from the stealth rubber, True to size, and great impact absorption. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

Cinderella slippers for sure

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Amazing. Couldn't ask for better.
