Finish LineCitrus Degreaser

Citrus Degreaser
Keeping your drivetrain clean is a necessary chore, but it's less chore-like if you at least use a cleaner that smells good. Finish Line's Citrus Degreaser has been working hard to create less work for you since 1988. As one of the first citrus-based degreasers, it uses natural extracts to pull grease, oil, and wax off of your drivetrain. Just spray on and let it set for a few minutes, then wash it off with clean water for a residue-free finish.

Is it ok to use the finish line degreaser with carbon fiber wheels?

Just what I needed
This was a last minute purchase. It is great for basic chain maintenance. It is easy to use, spray it on, let it sit and wipe it off. Great purchase.

Cleans well but...
Does clean well but it leaves a small residue that can possibly attract other dust and stuff.

Given as gift- but he raves!

- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Brother's bike was in the worst grease-dirt condition I've ever seen. Soap was not going to cut it, so I picked this up for him. I wasn't there, but he said a spray and soak and then a touch-up spray before brush/rinse and everything's moving like it should again. Smells awesome too.

Grease Be GONE. Smells awesome and is easy to apply. I spray and let it sit for a few minutes then scrub with a brush and rinse.

Pour Can Bargain

- I've put it through the wringer
I went the pour can route 8 more ounces for $4, yes please. I usually pour a little on a rag and it goes a long ways. I can also pour a little into my Pedro's chain pig to make short work of drivetrain cleanings. This is the perfect degreaser when the standard Dawn dish soap is not quite getting the job done. *and yes, one of the clamping "eyes" of the chainpig broke immediately, I reinforced the remaining eye and it has been going strong for well over a year since. Probably 40 uses or so

So far so good
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This is my first experience with an aerosol degreaser but so far I'm impressed. It works well as long as you either scrub the chain or let it sit for a few minutes before wiping / rinsing. Not a major sacrifice considering it's biodegradable.

When you have gunk caked all over your chain, pull this can out and go to town! The smell is amazing and the performance is great. It does a great job at removing grime and leaving your drivetrain silky smooth.

I bought a couple cans
Definitely a nice product to have around the shop or bike room. Smells good and makes degreasing painless. Let me know if you have any questions about tuning up the ol' bike.

Not Xylene, but it works
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Anyone who knows xylene and other industrial grade degreasers, won't be impressed with how well this works. Having said that, xylene is toxic and will probably kill you 20 years from now, unless you have a fume hood and industrial strength protective clothing. This product works well if you scrub, and smells nice. I still wear gloves (nitrile) when I use it , and since they don't melt, I assume it won't destroy your skin. Nonetheless it is prudent to wear eye protection and gloves when you use it.

Aerosol Version Degreaser
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Not much to say. It works okay for cleaning the chain. I had to do two applications per chain to get them clean. There is enough to do about 8-10 applications. I was surprised at how fast I ran out. Kind of expensive for the limited uses.

First time using aerosol or citrus. Must say I'm happy with both of the above... great stuff!

Not much to say about this product...makes degreasing easy, and my wife doesn't mind the smell when I'm cleaning bikes in the house during the winter. Solid product.

Hey Allan, Thank you for the question. Finish Line Degreaser is both powerful and natural with its citrus extracts that are specifically intended to help you clean your drivetrain faster with less scrubbing. This would not be recommended to use to clean your entire bike, (this is where a bike wash will come to play) but if you are cleaning your cassette, chain, derailleur pulleys, ect. on your bike, with carbon rims, a little splash will not hurt, just be sure to rinse your bike off with water for a residue free finish, then follow with some fresh chain lube and you're on your way! If you have any other questions about this product, or any others on our site, feel free to email me directly at krakowski@competitivecyclist.com.
