X5 Terra Cycling Shoe

The Fi'zi:k Men's X5 Terra Cycling Shoe provides the micro-adjustable fit, efficient pedaling platform, and robust durability you've come to expect from Fi'zi:k's premium cycling shoes, but without taking a big hit to your wallet, especially when you're upgrading your bike for the upcoming season or saving up for a trip to an iconic riding destination. We'd recommend the X5 Terra to cross-country racers on a budget, everyday trail riders, and gravel riders desiring the best value in an off-road cycling shoe.

It comes in two versions, either this particular model with synthetic Microfiber or a slightly more expensive version of natural suede uppers. You'll find this synthetic-based version retains its shape better over time and is more durable from abrasion, albeit without the ultra-supple feel people have come to love from genuine suede shoes.

The Boa L6 dial tightens the uppers to your exact liking, plus there's a lower strap to keep your forefoot securely held in place under power. Delving under the shoe, you'll find a co-injected sole of carbon and TPU, which provides an ideal blend of pedaling efficiency and flex, seeing you'll be dismounting over technical trail sections and walking your bike more than in a racier shoe. Aggressive traction lugs full encompass the sole, so you'll have confidence-inspiring grip, regardless if the trail is comprised of slickrock, packed dirt, or thick mud.

  • Affordable trail shoe with premium fit and feel
  • Microtex synthetic upper is durable and retains shape
  • Laser-perforated holes along upper for cooling airflow
  • Boa L6 dial closure provides a micro-adjustable fit
  • Lower hook-and-loop strap secures your forefoot down
  • Co-injected sole of carbon and nylon for efficiency
  • Aggressive traction lugs maintain non-slip grip

Great Shoe for the $$

I've put it through the wringer
True to size

I’ve been riding in this shoe for over 9 months on Gravel , MTN, and Fat Tire bikes.. great fit and have held up better than my SIDI Tiger for less than half the Price ... Easy to clean and BOA system works great ...

Nice shoe for price, not for me

Overall first impressions were fantastic. I was excited about the shoe. I have a pretty narrow foot, but the fit wasn’t great. The cutout for the ankle was set too far back and so I got quite a bit of rubbing on the lateral ankle when it was tight. Also much stiffer than I’m used to so it was rather uncomfortable to run in cx races. Boa system is awesome. Will look for this in the next shoe, but unfortunately I returned these.

Shoe review.

I've put it through the wringer

I've ridden the same pair of Sidi shoes for 22 years on my 33 year old Lotus Legend II road bike. I've purchased these shoes for my new stainless steel frame road bike to offset the money I overspent on my new stainless steel road frame, group set, Kris King components, and HED wheels. In short, they work well and I like the Boa system. Not quite Sidi, but damn good for the price point.

How is the fit compared to Sidi?

Fizik X5 Terra

I've used it several times
True to size

These Fizik's are my first new pair of shoes in a very long time so they came with some cool tech that i never had before. Mainly the BOA system. The fit is very good for my foot and the BOA system allows for a very quick fastening. Shoes are light enough and feel very well made. They feel much more like a road shoe than a MTB show. I ride with SPD cleats on my road bike, I like being able to walk around with the MTB shoes, much easier and more comfortable than a road shoe cleat on the ground. One thing I did find very different than my older Speacialized shoes is the space between the front area and heel area is completely smooth, so if you unclip you can't rest your foot easily on the pedal as it will just slip off. My older shoes had a small but very useful ridge on both sides of the shoe that allowed for some grip on the pedal while unclipped. I have already gotten used to it, but my first couple rides were startling when i tried placing my foot on the pedal while not locked in. Overall after a couple hundred miles Im very happy with the shoe. My Specialized have lasted over 10 years so only time will tell, but so far so good.
