For flexible spines.
You put time and attention into the fit of your saddle and the position of your handlebars, but how about the shape of the bars themselves? Fi'zi:k, makers of saddles for virtually every body type, has extended its thinking about how the spine relates to a bicycle's cockpit. The Cyrano is a series of handlebars and components that works in conjunction with saddle choice to create the optimal riding position. If you're extremely flexible, the Cyrano 00 Snake Handlebar is the ideal shape for you.
You'll notice that there are several Cyrano Snake options available. The primary difference is in the construction of the bars themselves. For example, while the R1 was constructed of unidirectional carbon fiber, the 00 is a step above, being molded from a high-modulus unidirectional carbon. This gives the 00 added strength for powerful sprints. It is available in four widths: 400mm, 420mm, 440mm, and 460mm. These widths accommodate a wide variety of riders. The reach is 80mm in the 400mm and 85 in the other three sizes, and the drop ranges from 130mm in the 400mm wide version, to 140mm in the three wider bars.
The reach and drop measurements sound similar to other handlebars. So, what makes this bar ideal for a rider classified as a Snake? The shape of the drop. The nature of the highly flexible Snake means that they are able to reach almost any position in a traditional rounded drop handlebar. Therefore, the bend is almost a full 180 degree bend verses the more abrupt or shallower bends of the Chameleon or Bull handlebar.
The Fi'zi:k Cyrano 00 Snake Handlebar weighs 175 grams. It comes in four widths from 400mm to 460mm measured center to center and in the color Black.
