Description

Argo Vento R1 Saddle

When we’re sprinting for the town line sign, the last thing we want distracting us is saddle discomfort. Fizik’s Argo Vento R1’s short nose design is ideal for keeping an aggressive forward position on the bike to earn bragging rights at the county line or the crit finish.

The Argo is Fizik’s most versatile saddle shape, meant to fit a wide range of riders, and the Vento R1 model is ideal for racing and aggressive riding with a lightweight shell and ergonomic design. A proper fit and the stable shaping of the Argo Vento translates to greater pedaling efficiency, rather than shifting fore and aft to find a comfortable position. The ergonomic center cutout and dropped nose design prevents numbness and pressure on soft tissue so we can focus on our pedal stroke, while the reactive foam padding optimizes power transfer and rider comfort. Fizik’s R1 shell with ride-compliant carbon-reinforced nylon and stiff carbon rails eliminates road vibration without losing efficiency.

  • A performance racing saddle for aggressive riding
  • Short drop-nose design provides a stable platform for aerodynamic position
  • Type 1 foam supports sit bones without sacrificing power transfer
  • Ergonomic cutout reduces pressure on soft tissues
  • R1 shell offers ideal balance of stiffness vs. compliance
  • Carbon rails drop weight without sacrificing strength
  • Designed with feedback from industry and medical experts for optimum ergonomics

Let's call this a 3.5... this is a racing saddle. RACING is the point to take away from this. I don't recommend this for seated endurance rides at any length. It's nice and light, feels great for 45 minutes, but anything longer than that it's unbearable. Lots of hotspots and sit bone pressure, which is surprising because for the first 30 minutes it feels like a pillow. I would recommend this to anyone who is putting it on a race bike where they intend to stand for lots of efforts. Do NOT put this on the training bike you use for doing 3.5 hours at endurance pace or anything like that. Additionally, there aren't a million ways to sit on this one, it gives you a solid powerful position and you're pretty much stuck there.

I've really struggled to find a saddle that fits me properly. I spent last season on a Pro Vibe Stealth, and liked it well enough, but once I transitioned to indoor riding, where there was less movement on long intervals, the lack of padding became a bit too spartan. At first, I tried the Argo Tempo in search of a bit more padding, but I found it too soft. I would sink into it and get hot spots and numbness. I've found this to be a good in between between those two. Still not perfect, but as close as I've found, after using it on all day rides, indoor training sessions, etc. I did have to get my original saddle warrantied after the softer rubber wings separated at the edge of the saddle where they connect to the stiff carbon edge. Fizik was super easy to deal with and they just sent me a new saddle.
