Antares R1 Open Saddle
Max out the miles with more comfort than your saddle-sore ridden soft tissue could have previously imagined with the Fi'zi:k Antares R1 Open Saddle. This saddle takes the mid-width comfort of the Antares to support you on the ride, with just enough gentle flex to soak up vibrations from the road, and adds a cutout to alleviate all pressure to your soft tissue, maximizing the comfort on long and rough rides. Designed for riders who land right in the middle, the Antares R1 Open Saddle comes in at a mid width, and a profile crafted for those with mid flexibility.
While it might give you the impression that it's just a middle man in stature, its resilient and lightweight construction tell us otherwise. It features braided carbon rails that soak up chatter, and a carbon-reinforced nylon shell that both minimizes weight and provides just a touch of flex to keep you comfortable when you're moving fore and aft on the bike. A Comfort Core foam layer beneath the durable Microtex cover offers an extra touch of comfort, while the full anatomic cut-out ensures no unwanted pressure will be places on your most sensitive anatomy.
- A mid-width saddle that maximizes the comfort
- Evo concept fitting for Chameleon, or mid-flexibility riders
- Absorb road chatter and reduce fatigue with carbon rails
- Carbon-reinforced nylon shell flexes to accommodate movement
- Pressure relief cutout gives sensitive tissue a break
- Designed with flexibility for finding your perfect position
- Smooth sides make it easy to move fore and aft on the saddle

This saddle was a great upgrade from my Canyon Endurance stock saddle. It made a huge difference in comfort and the ride felt a lot better with this saddle. I only gave it 4 stars because after 40 miles I do begin to feel some discomfort. But that might be based on my riding style. Overall a solid saddle and felt it was a great purchase.

I have been using various iterations of the Antares (R3 w/ carbon, Kium and Mangnesium rails, R5 and R7) on my road, CX and mtn bikes for 4 years now. They fit me very well. Decided to go with the new R1 Open. Have not been disappointed. Prior versions of the Antares were comfortable to me but this saddle on my Canyon Ultimate is the best. I highly recommend the R1 Open.

I've been out riding about a dozen times since I received by Antares R1 and my butt thanks me every time. Very comfortable riding position and a huge upgrade compared to my Specialized saddle prior. Super light weight and comfy - this wins in my books.

Great Saddle, but not for me
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I was excited to receive the saddle as I thought it would be a significant upgrade from my current, stock Selle Italia saddle. I tried it out for a few times, albeit strictly indoors, but there simply wasn't enough support for my sit bones and I felt that I was continuously tilting my pelvis forward, causing other nuances. Overall the saddle is great, looks great, and the material (which is grippy cloth for lack of better terminology) is also great. It's stiff, comfortable. It just didn't work for me.

As a road racer, my previous favorite saddle was a Fizik aliante gamma. This saddle is even better! Not too wide, not too narrow. Perfect length. Perfect balance of hardness vs softness. Find it very easy to anchor down and lay down the power.

Fantastic Comfort
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Besides being a light weight saddle, the comfort is fantastic. Not too soft to be moving around under hard efforts, but just right. The clip on the back for a Fizik bag is a nice touch, but the bags should also have a strap so they don't swing back and forth. Over 600 miles on it so far and loving it!
