Alm Ultimate Saddle

One look at the Fabric ALM Ultimate Saddle and you’ll know it’s unlike any saddle you’ve ever tried. ALM stands for Additive Layer Manufacturing — the prototype was developed using 3D printing. This technique allowed Fabric to create a saddle that would have previously been impossible to manufacture.

The rail and base of the ALM saddle are carbon fiber. This provides a lightweight chassis. The organic shape of the saddle lends much more than aesthetics. Because of their unique shape and placement, the rails work like leaf springs to suspend the rider and absorb vibration and road shock. Fabric uses a high-density polyurethane foam for padding and vibration-absorption. A waterproof microfiber shell is vacuum-bonded in place to finish the ALM. Please note: rider weight is limited to 100kg (220lbs).

Cracks on side of saddle

I've used it several times

10 rides on saddle. I ride 4 different bikes. After holes appeared in 3 pairs of my Assos bibs, I inspected my saddles. Small cracks on sidewall of ALM is the culprit. Fabric told me to send saddle to C-Dale for a replacement. All very nice, but what about my $1,000 of damaged bids. Pass on this product.

Very good also for heavier rider

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Given my weight (90kg) i was worried of no padded saddle. But i was attracted by the flexy carbon rails to smooth road conditions. So far the impression is very positive. The saddle is light and comfy and the rails do what the are expected to do. The saddle rides best when its placed completely flat (i.e. no nose down).

Light, Decent Comfort, Cracks

I've put it through the wringer

I got this saddle back in early May. It is extremey light, very tech, and has decent comfort (notteh best, but not the worst). As stated in the product description, the saddle works like a leaf spring This is also what caused it to fail. It cracked on both side, at the flex point, where the nose of the saddle meets the front rails. I have now been informed that my warrany saddle will not come in until September. So pulling out the old Concor. Hopefully the second one will be better. Update: Replacement gopt pushed to January. In the meantime Fabric gave me a Carbon Rail Scoop to fill in while I waited for my Alm. The Scoop is AWESOME. Possibly the best saddle I have ever put my butt on. I have my replacement Alm now and am Craigslisting it. Unless you are an insane-no weight weenie, skip the Alm and get the Scoop.
