Why We Like The Evil Following-LS GX Eagle i9 Mountain Bike
Built to get us up the mountain fast so we can charge down even faster, The Following is one helluva machine for those of us that prefer the lighter feel and livelier handling of a short-travel bike. The Following comes with a playful yet capable 121mm of rear travel driven by the DELTA suspension system, which feels fast and nimble on flow trails yet gives us the confidence to twist the throttle on steep trails full of rocks and drops. A bike this playful is typically reserved for the jump park, not for our local cross-country loops, but Evil proves us wrong once again. The Following-LS gets a geometry flip-chip, so for those big gravity days with fire road climbs, we can throw it into the x-low setting and get slacker angles all around. Already outfitted with a spritely 66.9-degree headtube angle, the flip-chip can lower it a further .5-degrees. Combining that angle with big 29in wheels means rolling over the next big trail obstacle is nothing but a good time. Plus, a 76-degree seat tube angle gets us into a strong yet comfortable position to put some power down on the climbs.
Coming in hot with the spec on the Following-LS GX Eagle i9 build is a list of components that are smartly spec'd to withstand ride after ride of high-speed abuse. Highlights of this feature-packed build include Industry Nine hoops with quick-engaging Hydra hubs. We're stoked on the suspension package as well, featuring top-of-the-line RockShox components that support a lifetime of big sends and bigger hits. A 130mm Pike Ultimate up front offers a supportive feel, while the Super Deluxe Ultimate shock makes it feel like we have a lot more than 121mm out back. SRAM's GX Eagle drivetrain throws in a huge amount of range that makes the mountains feel like molehills, and a pair of 4-piston G2 R brakes help us reign it back in when things get too rowdy. Evil rounds out this version of the Following with some Lightly Salted updates, including a SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger so that our bike trip doesn't end with a sideways slide into a stump. We've never been ones to shy away from sending a black diamond trail head-on with an under-biked trail bike, which makes the Evil Following-LS GX Eagle i9 Mountain Bike that much more fun and capable for year-round riding.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
