Description

TRS Boost Wheel

The e*thirteen TRS Boost Wheel is built for aggressive trail riding and enduro, ready for heavy duty use and abuse without breaking the bank. The TRS rim has been revised from the previous generation, employing a wider 35mm internal width for 2.6 - 2.8in tires, and thicker sidewalls that are 6x stronger in impact tests than their predecessor. The TRS Race SL hubs use a durable 660 stainless steel freehub delivering 6-degree engagement for a snappy pedal response that's useful on techy climbs or when hammering out of corners to regain speed. The all-aluminum hub shell finds a good balance of strength and weight, with angular contact bearings that provide a smooth ride and excellent durability.

  • A burly 27.5+ aluminum wheelset that doesn't cost a fortune
  • TRS rim with thicker sidewalls is 6x stronger than previous models
  • Wide 35mm internal width optimized for 2.6 - 2.8in "plus" tires
  • 6-degree hub engagement for snappy pedal response on any terrain
  • Available in HG for Shimano 11-spd & XD for SRAM 11 & 12-spd

These wheels are super heavy and underperform, I felt them flex a lot in the corners and I even bent one in. I’m a 205lb rider using 35PSI (I check before every ride). I replaced these with a set of dr Swiss XM551 rims which are 10mm wider but perform way better.

    Unacceptable performance

The wheel sets came in as complete bike build from CC. I'm road biker so I didn't know how good / bad E13 wheel sets were. After a couple of ride (about 100 miles on it), I noticed bend/dent on rear side wall. I know the wheel didn't hit or bump to any hard object and I'm rider about 140lb with 25psi so no good chance to be bend by weight. I'm so disappointed with this wheel. I emailed to warrantybike@backcountry.com for asking the fix or replacement and am waiting for the response. If your bike build would come with this wheel set, strongly recommend to replace e13 with alternative. Hopefully, Competitive Cyclist resolve this issue as soon as possible so I can go back riding.

I'm glad you admitted you are a road biker as it helps me discredit your opinion. 25 psi is too low.... why? its common sense you are risking damage at 25psi

Hello are these rims quick release compatible? Also $159 is for 2 wheels correct? Also can you run tubes with these rims?

Can you put 2.3 and 2.4 tires on this rim

    Great Wheelset for the price

Bought these to replace some low end WTB wheels. I have to say I'm impressed. Been on them for a year now with no issues. I'm not super heavy (170 lbs) and run 28psi in the rear so not super hard on wheels. After checking the E13 website it looks like these are their Base level wheels, which come with sleeved rims and 6061 alloy. While good for most people, if you're heavier and like to run low pressure with thin sidewall tires, the Plus level wheels might be more for you (stronger 6069 alloy and welded). I think maybe the previous reviewer should up his tire pressure a bit! 25 psi with Exo sidewall is begging for dents in rocky terrain. Overall for the price I think these are great. Highly recommned!

    Complete Trash

I really wanted to like these budget rims. As others have said, the hub sounds great.... however: Wheels came on a new build and the rear dented so bad it had to be replaced after 5 rides. Replacement rim lasted two rides with another dent too big to ride on. When they dent, the inside of the rim bulges so bad that the bead is out of round so it's not a matter of just straightening the bead. I've been riding for over 25 years on lots of tech and have never had issues like I've had with these rims. Tire pressure is checked before every ride and I had more than 25psi in both instances. Front rim got a dent early on but is still holding air after being bent straight. In the end, I guess you get what you pay for.

Stiff and super fast. These wheels hold true, look and sound amazing.
