Description

What's not to like?

Just like its latest mountain handlebars, ENVE takes its M-Series wheel naming structure and applies it to its stems helping to categorize the product for its intended use and rider. The M6 Stem is essentially quite similar to the original mountain stem, coming in the same lengths, 37mm stack height, and 31.8mm bar clamp diameter, while the M7 is built a tad bit beefier, with a 40mm stack and offered in shorter lengths designed to pair with its new 35mm clamp bars. What wasn't lost on these stem redesigns was the strength to weight ratio that crushes any aluminum stem on the market while maintaining the ability to mute hand-numbing trail vibrations.

Besides the fact that its looks and design are purpose-built for the new M5 and M6 handlebars, the other reason you should be riding one is the weight or lack thereof. All of the stems come in under 100-grams except the longest, the 85 millimeters, which weighs in at a claimed 104 grams. This is in part due to the unidirectional carbon fiber construction which is so tough, ENVE molds the threads to accept the titanium hardware, versus the commonly accepted, heavier, and potentially weaker process of pressing in aluminum inserts. Its only concession to aluminum is its faceplate where we're sure if ENVE thought that carbon would have been at an advantage here, it would have used it. The end result is a stem that’s light and durable enough that doesn't flinch at the prospect of fast cross-country racing or rugged trail and lighter duty enduro events.

  • A stem that's equal parts strong and lightweight
  • Aluminum faceplate and titanium hardware are durable and light
  • Lengths in 15mm increments from 40mm to 85mm
  • Built for mountain use and pairs seamlessly with ENVE's M5 and M6 handlebars

Nobody does it better

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Replaced a stock Race Face stem for a Santa Cruz 5010. This stem is much lighter, more responsive and has greater dampening capabilities than anything else on the market. It is a very noticeable difference. Furthermore, its awesome that after a 4 hour technical ride, your hands could go for 4 more easily. As with all carbon, use a quality torque wrench. Perfect for any setup (XC, Trail, Enduro)!

The Real Deal

Enve is known for making top of the line, no compromise carbon products and this stem is no exception. They test out hundreds of different carbon layouts using their pro riders so you know that you're getting the best. It's the perfect blend between stiff and compliant so that you can abuse it through rock gardens and keep your hands feeling fresh. It's a steep price tag for a stem but they are made in the US using about 50 different pieces of carbon all pressed together. Truly a work of art.

This is an awesome stem. Integrates seamlessly with the M6 handlebar, or any other 31.8 handlebar for that matter. Sleek design, easy install, well built. 10/10
