Nero Interactive Rollers

It's time to face it if you aren't using some form of interactive or smart indoor trainer, you're off the back. They simply make the workouts more enjoyable and effective and while it's not quite as good as riding outdoors, it's exciting enough to still keep us motivated to ride when the weather isn't ideal. We've always preferred rollers to trainers as its ability to improve our bike handling and pedal stroke is second to none, but we miss the ability to simulate grades and pair with our favorite training apps. And while we are aware of rollers that do possess adjustable resistance, we aren't aware, to this point anyway, of any that are interactive. That all changes of course with the Nero Interactive Rollers from Elite.

Elite started with the floating system and design of its Quick-Motion rollers and added Arion Digital Smart B+ interactivity to it. Using two flywheels, Nero gives you a fluid and natural riding experience and the ability to interact with all kinds of apps, software, computers, smartphones, and tablets that use IOS, Android, macOS, and Windows operating systems. It's able to adjust its resistance based on the training session you’re doing by using ANT+ and Bluetooth wireless communication protocols and immediately send all training data to programs, apps and software. Elite even includes a free 12-month subscription of its own My E-Training to get you started.

This interaction with rollers is reason enough to get excited, but we'd be remiss if we didn't touch on some of its other details. Elite worked tirelessly to ensure amazing pedaling roundness. Thanks to the two flywheels in the rear rollers, pedaling roundness is 1200 times higher than its own Quick-Motion. Getting started on rollers is a daunting task even for experienced riders but Elite has made this easier with an integrated step offering a solid base when it’s time to start or end your training sessions. And once you get going, its parabolic rollers shape at the ends help instantly guide you towards the center again.

Returning features from the Quick-Motion includes its floating system. This design feature helps absorb abrupt movements such as standing during its 7% slope simulation and even some mellow sprinting up to its 830-watt power output you'll face during an Elite Real video or from the virtual world of Zwift. Final details include its compatibility with road and mountain wheels, 11-position adjustable front roller that accommodates for varying wheelbases, and its ability to quickly and easily fold into three sections with one simple movement. This reduces its size by 50% and conspires with the integrated handle that makes it easy to store or to travel.

Closest ever to a real road feel

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So yeah, I really feel like I need to tell someone about these because they are awesome. I guess I?ll start of by saying that I absolutely hate trainers. Turbo?s are too stiff, and rollers require too much paying attention or you do an epic crash. The Nero Rollers are the first trainer I?ve ever used that I actually like. From the beginning, the unboxing was simple. They come fully assembled and only need folded out and adjusted for your bikes wheel base. It is the same as any other roller in this respect. The front axle goes over or just behind the front roller. Once this is done, you can actually ride if you want to. For the interactive (smart) part, it?s super simple. Plug the supplied cord into the rollers and pair them up to the program of your choice. I used zwift via my iPhone. It is worth mentioning that the power output accuracy on this trainer isn?t supposed to be great. I honestly never tried it because the trainer automatically searched for and linked with my Assioma power meter pedals, and used them as a default for setting itself. The trainer worked quite well with zwift. There was a slight delay between the screen and the felt resistance on the trainer, but not much. Since I don?t watch the screen that closely, it?s not going to bother me a bit. I guess for the part that really sold me on these... The ride quality is great! These aren?t you daddy?s rollers. Unlike every set of rollers that I?ve been on, these don?t try to trow you off just because you reach for your water bottle. You can even ride out of the saddle! Don?t get me wrong, you can still crash, but it?s noting like a typical set of rollers. The bike simply feels like a bike on these, and with the interactive programs available, these are as close to riding outdoors as I?ve ever found.
