Description

As you ride, Dumonde Tech Original Bicycle Chain Lubricant forms a low-friction plastic plating which bonds to the chain and drivetrain components. This allows your parts to last longer and run quieter than what you'd get from any other lubricant.

It comes in two concentrations. This Dumonde Tech Original is more viscous than the Lite, even though they have the same formulation. Not to worry if you normally use one or the other, the two Dumonde Tech Lube formulas are compatible and may be used interchangeably.

Dumonde Tech Original is more concentrated than the Lite and excels in the most challenging conditions. We use it on our mountain bikes and for the road bike when the road and weather conditions promise to be poor. A coating of the thicker Original is more durable than the Lite, so it generally requires less frequent applications.

To get the best results from Dumonde Tech Lubes, first degrease your chain and dry it thoroughly prior to the first application. This effectively primes the surface for the "plating" effect that makes the lube so successful. For the first application, we recommend putting one drop on each link to really aid the plating effect, wiping the excess from the chain after it has had time to work itself into the pins. When your chain begins to get noisy, it's time to reapply. Use soap and water to clean the chain prior to re-application -- strong solvents and degreasers will remove the protective plastic plating from the chain, putting you back at square one.

This Dumonde Tech Original Bicycle Chain Lube comes in a 4oz bottle that should last for 40 or so applications.

  • Forms a low-friction plastic plating on the chain
  • More-viscous formula is ideal for foul weather
  • Washes out with soap and water

Chain Magic

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best chain lube overall. It is interesting when switching to this lube from others that the chain, cassette, and mech are noticeably quieter and smoother. It works great for the conditions in mountain bike paradise - utah! Clean your chain before you use it and let it sit on the chain for a bit then wipe off the chain before you ride to minimize attracting grit. Try it you will never want anything else.

Best chain lube, period.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It may not save you the most watts, but honestly, I don't care. It is incredibly easy to apply, it doesn't attract a lot of dirt, and it lasts a long time and keeps my drivetrain quiet and working well.

Being a mechanic, I've tried all sorts of weird chain lube ideas, from parrafin wax, to rubbing chains in teflon powder, to every single lube you could ever name, and this stuff just works.

The reviews say it all.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is by far the best chain lube, hands down. Works great in dry and wet conditions. Chain doesn't seem to pick up too much dirt too, which is a huge bonus.

Yeah; same as everybody said

I didn't think I needed to chime in as everyone has raved about this stuff in these reviews, and I agree. After nearly 2 years of using it, I find it superior to everything else that I've tried. Just another tip: let it 'soak in ' preferably overnight, before wiping off, it will get into the pins and rollers and actually sort of 'dry' on the surface. I use it as a sort of 'cleaner' right after riding, wiping just a dab onto the moving chain, and then after a few hours or the next day, wipe it off with a dry cloth. Always a clean (smiling) chain, and never a squeak. I seem to get more mileage out of my chains and cassettes, but I rotate a lot of bikes so that's not necessarily proven yet. The blue (thicker) version is for when I think it might get wet, but mostly I use the yellow one.

    Lube of choice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like most bike parts you try out different products until you find something you really like. Well this is the chain lube for me. This stuff is nice and light on your chain and holds for a really long time. I usually apply every week or two depending on how often i am riding. This stuff isn't gloppy like other brands, and gets it super clean. Do yourself a favor and pick some up! If you are new to biking and need some helping getting going feel free to reach out anytime!

    All around

Good all around lube - seems to keep the chain running quietly through those long dusty summer trail rides. Haven't quite put it to the test of wetter conditions though.

      Cant beat it

I was using some other chain lube with a weird applicator until my friend let me use his which happened to be this brand of lube. I immediately went home and ordered some, and couldn't be happier. Great product!

      Works Great

I've been using this lube for several years and have no complaints. Works great for riding in a variety of conditions. Highly recommended.

      best chain lube there is

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used this lube for years after trying many different kinds, a little goes a long way, its nice and viscous and makes the chain roll really well!...if you ride MTB a small dab of this is also good for your fork seals

The best for a range of conditions

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used extensively, and tested just about every chain lube out there; I rather enjoy seeing what is going to provide the best friction reduction, shifting, and lasts longest; while obviously running reasonably clean. My obsession with chain lubricant came with advent of 11-speed drive trains, as a few of us were seeing at most 800 miles out of chains with out typical go-to lube.

While we can't ask any lube to run completely clean, Dumond Tech has the perfect viscosity to only leave a thin film on your drivetrain, rather than the piles of goop you can get with wax-based lubricants.

This lube is light enough to run fairly clean, but thick enough that it doesn't make a mess during application. It also has a great lifespan per application; I have been getting around 120 miles per application before noticing that my chain is sounding rather dry. I have yet to shed all of the lube and have my ride sounding like something headed for the junk yard.

This works equally well on the road and mountain; I highly recommend it if you have diverse conditions, and especially in harsh conditions.

      Better for my riding

I have loved using Dumond Tech Lite lube, but I was applying it after every ride, it was just too light. The original is more vicious, so it tends to do better for my riding in Utah.

        Rides so smooth

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just got this in the mail a few days ago. I've used it a couple of times. Easy application, bike rides smooth after. I only use a tiny amount, I'm sure the 4 oz bottle will last me a month or two, and I wash my bike pretty much every day.

        Better than sliced bread

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I can log 60-100 miles in so cal dry dusty trails before having to reapply. Most of the people here using other lubes make it 20 miles and have to relube. This stuff is awesome and my chain stays much cleaner!

One lube to rule them all

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This stuff is great for just about any condition. It holds up in wet conditions and also when it's really dusty. I'll use the Lite (yellow) version on my road bike when conditions are dry, but the Original (blue) is my standard choice for mtb riding.

        High Quality

I ride my mountain bike 2-4 times/week here in Park City. I try to clean it every week or so and reapply Dumonde to my chain afterwards to help keep everything in good shape. It works great and is reasonably priced.

Great stuff if you're lazy like me.

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This stuff has staying power. I can get a couple-three hundred miles on my road bike with nary a whisper from my chain. Works on my mountain bike too.

It does capture a fair amount of dust, so it gets dirty, but I find that it doesn't hang on to larger grit.

          Simply The Best

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This lube is truly the best I've ever used. I never liked the wax type. Typical oil type lubes wash off too easy and create major build up. This is not too oily after wiped off and only needs to be re-lubed every 4 or 5 rides with a simple brush off in between. truly amazing. BTW, I ride mostly dry and dusty trails here in Southern California so I cannot speak to real wet weather climates.
