Direct mount rear derailleurs, MatchMaker lever mounts, and SRAM's new XX1 drivetrain are all examples of mountain biking's current simplification trend. And if you're going to take advantage of the reduction in weight and complexity of SRAM's new 1x11 drivetrain, you'll need a wheelset that's compatible with its cassette. Don't worry, this isn't as daunting as it sounds. All that's needed in order to make DT Swiss's 180, 190, 240, or 350 hubs compatible with XX1, is to swap out the existing freehub body with a XD Driver.

The DT Swiss XD Driver can be changed without tools, but it doesn't include end caps.

  • Update your drivetrain to the simplicity of one-by
  • Designed to work with SRAM XX1 11-speed drivetrains
  • Tool-free installation is home mechanic-friendly
  • Compatible with DT Swiss 180, 190, 240, and 350 hubs
  • Doesn't include end caps

My DT wheels have a Shimano freehub body. Will the end cap from the Shimano freehub body work with these or do I need an XD specific end cap?

You will need the specific XD endcap separately as well.

It'll be the "Rear XD, 12x142/148mm CL/6-Bolt"

Is this DT Swiss driver the same as the XDR? I don't see that DT has an "XDR" specific driver even though SRAM listed on their website that they are about 1.8mm in difference between the two.

Easy conversion from Shimano to SRAM

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Easy conversion of existing DT Swiss shimano hubs to the "XD" standard for use with 11 speed or higher cassettes.

Switching from shimano drive on 240's and wondering if i can use the same end cap or do i need specific XD endcap?

DT with XD

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The XD driver allows the mounting of SRAM 11 and 12speed cassettes with a 10t small ring. The DT Swiss XD driver is well made and utilizes super smooth bearings.

I have a 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp hardtail with the stock wheels (roval rims/dt Swiss spokes/ specialized hi lo rear 135mm QR). Will this freehub work on my wheel so I can fit the Sram 10-42 cassette? If not, is there one for sale here that will? Thanks!

Pretty simple to switch out. It can be difficult to pull the end caps off, it takes a little force to pop um off. Goes back together way easier.

I have a Giant P-XC 2 29er wheelset - I believe the rear hub is a DT Swiss 350 OE hub and would be compatible with this freewheel body, but can anyone confirm this will definitely work before I pull the trigger? TIA!

Yes, this will work just fine.

will this work on a Roval control carbon wheel?

Should be good to go - 99% sure those are DT 240 hubzzzz :)

this XD Drive fit on my sram X9 hub?

No, these are meant to be used for the DT Swiss series hubs.

I have a DT Swiss 350 Hub with X01 and the proper XD Driver already, however I'm looking to upgrade it to the 36 tooth star ratchet. I've found the conversion kit, but it cost more than this advertised price, just wondering if this hub is 18 or 36 tooth star ratchet, might just swap the entire hub, less fuss, less work, less money at this price?

My frame spacing is 150,My dt swiss 350...

My frame spacing is 150,My dt swiss 350 hub is 150,and the only freehub I can find is 12x142 . Do I use spacers to make up the 8mm difference?

Best Answer

The 150mm spacing is determined by your hubshell; the freehub body is the same standard for all spacings. Make sure you have a 12mm axle.

Will it work on the DT's 1600 wheels?

Will it work on the DT's 1600 wheels?

According to the DT Swiss manual ( , page 32) both the DT 1600 SPLINE 26" and 29" utilize the "Ratchet System" freehub body which would be interchangeable with this XX1 version. If you're wheelset is truly the "1600" then I would say this product would allow you to use the XX1 or X01 cassette on your current wheelset.

Does the job

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I recently upgraded my Yeti SB66 with XX1 and put this freehub body on my DT Swiss 1600 wheels. It worked perfectly. Cheaper and easier than a whole new wheelset.
