Description

The weather guessers were way off.

Whistler's many mountain bike trails are a helluva good time, but they can get pretty soggy without much warning. The Dakine Seeker 24L Hydration Pack will keep your gear dry when you get caught out in the rain halfway through your ride. After you pull your rain jacket from the main compartment of the pack, roll down the the lid to ensure a waterproof closure to the pack. Take a quick shot of water off the high-flow Blaster bite valve before you hit that last uphill section before the long roll back down to the trailhead, and stash your sunglasses in the fleece-lined pocket when rain clouds make it too hard to see through them. Being the largest offering in Dakine's Seeker series, this pack is well-suited for long rides when extra layers, food, and plenty of water are crucial for your ride.

not thought through design flaws

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

this pack has done the job on a handful of adevntures but the roll top closure is sub par. The side strapping is awkward, and the all plastic breakable buckles is just unacceptable. I expect more from dakine bike packs!

An Overpackers Dream- DAKINE SEEKER 24L

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Hiked the Grand Canyon north rim to south rim day hike which recommended at least 3 liters of water to go the 24 miles. I picked the Dakine Seeker because it was the largest hydration pack with the biggest water reservoir. It held plenty of clothes needed for the varying weather conditions and a solid amount of food. Regardless of my over packing it felt light on my back and hips. The mesh liner kept my back cool, dry with minimal chafing. The straw has a magnet which kept the tube from swinging around and in place for quick access at all times. Multiple pockets made snacks, sunglasses, sunblock and other small items easily accessible. The pro and con of this bag was that the water bladder rested in the bottom section which; on the plus side it situate in the most efficient part of my back to keep the pack from feeling heavy, and I never had to worry about it being puncture or damaged by anything else in my pack. As a con i had to remove items out of the main space to fill the bladder. Luckily it’s so large I only did this once. Overall the pack was great! I highly recommend it for a long day hike.
