Hot Laps 2L Hip Pack

Designed for shorter singletrack loops, the Dakine Hot Laps 2L Hip Pack stashes your biking accessories, snacks, and water bottle without the extra weight. This fanny pack is tougher than most thanks to a burly, abrasion-resistant construction, and it fits comfortably around your waist with a breathable air mesh backpanel when the ride heats up. A fleece-lined pocket within the zippered main compartment keeps your smartphone from getting scratched, while the internal mesh pocket stores spare tubes, levers, energy gels, or any other small basics you may need. It also holds an extra water bottle within its deployable side pocket if you're without a cage.

  • Comfortable, space-saving hip pack for quick singletrack laps
  • Durable fabric keeps up through your harsher rides
  • Buckle customizes an exact fit
  • Breathable mesh backpanel prevents you from getting soaked
  • Multiple pockets protect your most valuable riding essentials

Great Hip Pack for Mountain Biking

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size
Size Bought
N/A
Height
6` 3"
Weight
190 lbs

Have used this pack now a few times and love the size and feel, I almost forget it's there most of the time until I need something from it. Haven't found it to be uncomfortable when climbing, love that it has built-in retention for CO2 canisters and other small items and a clip for keys. Usually carry a tube or two, CO2/pump, patch kit, cell phone, credit card and car keys without it feeling stuffed. Would be hard-pressed to fit a larger shirt/lightweight jacket in there unless it was empty, but this hasn't been an issue thus far. Highly recommend and the Desert Sun color looks great in person (and easy to find in the garage).

Good storage, but doesn't fit great

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Great for longer rides where you need to bring some snacks or an extra water. Really like the little keys clip too. Don't use it anymore on short rides because it just doesn't sit on my waist very well, lots of movement up and down when hitting jumps or tech stuff. Got a saddle bag that fits a multi tool and my phone/keys for anything under like 2 hours. Been using this for hiking more than biking lately

If you don't have a fanny yet, get one!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These are the best for anything but a real long ride. We use them for cross country, chairlifts and shuttling and they care everything you need and nothing you don't, unless it's more than a bottle of water. Get one!

Hot Laps for Life!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This dakine pack is wonderful; from quick laps on the bike around the front range to riding over to the brewery with my phone and keys. Does not feel too heavy on the back or side; feels secure and also great for runs with the puppy. Would buy again 100%

Perfect Sized Hip Pack

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Before I got the 2L Hip Pack from Dakine, I had the 5L which honestly felt too big for me so I transitioned to the smaller size. It has been perfect for rides short & long -- inside, it fits a small hand pump, extra tube, sealant, tire lever, cell phone, cliff bar, and multi tool! Since it only has 1 water bottle holder, I usually bring an extra water bottle on my bike and I have everything I need. I have also never had any issues with the water bottle staying attached to the hip pack even on more technical/rocky descents. Would highly recommend this hip pack!

Perfect for a couple of hot laps where you don't need to carry much.

Great for whatever!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I'm no biker but love his hip pack for hiking. I don't need much for an after work hike with my dog but a few poop bags, a snack, and a water bottle. It's also nice for hiking in bear country to put your bear strap on when you're on a short hike. I have also used it as a purse around town. Great multipurpose pack!

Great For Trail Running Too!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I used this pack for a trail race over the weekend and it was the perfect accessory to hold my extra gear. The streamlined design felt like I was wearing nothin at all, and I was able to fit a pair of gloves (lots of snow up high still), some power blocks and other snacks, and a change of socks. From a utilitarian standpoint it was a game changer on the race course, but it also helped step up my apres game with some fashion points as I wore it throughout the post race festivities and well into the evening. All in all, I was very happy I brought it.

Better than a pack for short rides

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Love using this for short rides. I usually store an extra tube, multi tool, snack, phone, and a few other items depending how you store them. Water bottle stays on even during rough downhill sections

Good for a quick ride or hike

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've used this for both biking and hiking when I need to carry stuff and water. Great for a quick ride where you don't need a lot of gear or for a ride that you don't need lots of extra water. Pack stays put even when loaded and doesn't bounce around like the bladder based waist pack I tried. It's been around the world and has held up great. Compared to other options, the value is fantastic.

hips and sips

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Love the Hip pack! When I'm doing quick loops by the house under an hour I keep all my goodies on my bike. If it's going to be a longer run or I'm taking demo bikes out I like the hip pack. It allows me to pack my phone, tools, pump and water out on the ride in case of emergency. If i'm doing the all day I'll grab the back pack or I'll wear a pair of bibs and stuff the pockets. I keep this stocked at all time just waiting to hit the trail what a great pack!

Hip packs are back!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I used to ride with a hip back..in the early 90's heheehe! Super nice to have them come back, and be so comfy. I use this on smaller rides with the minimal gear needed and it's really nice to not have a hot back :)! Ride light, ride fast, ride on!! woohoo!

Perfect for a quick lap

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Very nice, a great amount of room. The stealth is just a little too small. I carry some basic med stuff, my multitool, phone, and wallet. Can for sure fit more. Also a water bottle strap!

Excellent bag

Great MTB fanny pack for quick trail rides.

Love It

Prefer to ride without anything on my back, this does the trick. Enough for a short ride or longer if you pack carefully.

Comfortable pack for MTB

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Get that weight off your back! This pack stays in place nicely throughout the ride. It holds a water bottle securely and has plenty of room to store a spare tube, tools, even a rain jacket!

Works great

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Holds my tools and water bottle on the outside. Sure as hell beats riding with a backpack on those shorter rides!

>Rating: 4

great

more side pockets! I fashioned up a pocket on the side for my tool and a co2. The stretchy addition to the strap seems to be a great upgrade over the non stretchy strap of the old 1.5L . I was surprised by how well this held a water bottle. I would recommend giving it a try! Holds a lot of stuff as well.

Perfect size

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I purchased this pack for extra water/gear for longer rides so I don't have to wear a pack. I hardly notice I'm wearing it, and its just the right size for an extra water bottle, some snacks, and whatever else I need to stash.
