Description

The sandwich is on its own.

Though your phone and that gas station sandwich you've been carrying around for so long it's no longer classifiable as a sandwich may not survive a spill, Dakine's DK Impact Spine Protector does add a layer of somatic protection to most of the brand's snow and bike backpacks. The low-bulk profile doesn't restrict movement or distract from the suffering while you're working up the switchbacks on the front half of your local loop, but it does provide some impact absorption to help smooth out any user errors after you drop in on the B side.

  • Thin, flexible padding for mountain bike spills
  • Compatible with most of Dakine's snow and bike backpacks
  • Certified to diffuse impact when caught between a bad line and a hard place

Safety first

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Picked this up for my Dakine RAS Poacher vest. It much softer than I imagined, but firm enough that it is going to protect your spine, especially when the pack is loaded up with your metal shovel.

save the spine for $35

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing is cheap compared to a trip to the E.R. I put this in my dakine pack and never looked back. weighs a little bit more than expected but I don't mind for the added piece of mind that it gives.
