Fly6 CE3 Tail Light

Heading out for a training ride involves a heavily motor-memory driven routine of straightening socks, matching bib cuffs to tan line levels, checking tires, and a host of other essential tasks as we check off out pre-ride preparedness list. Where safety stands on that list should be ideally first and last, and the Cycliq Fly6 CE3 Tail Light can help. The first is charging your rearview camera/rear light combo, and the last is turning it on as you head out the door. Updated from the previous model, the new Fly6 is sleeker, more durable, includes a twist on/off mount, and now comes with a 32GB microSD card.

If you aren’t familiar with the Fly6, it’s a combination rear light and video camera that records up to 5 hours of video in glorious FHD (1080p at 30fps) or HD (720p at 60fps) to capture an epic ride or, in truth, an unfortunate rear-end accident. Capturing sound and locking audio and video on either side of an incident — yes, the Fly6 can register if it’s been in an accident — it’s one of the more valuable upgrades you can make to a bike. And should you run out the memory card, a smart loop feature erases older video, so you’ll always have relevant safety-related video recording space.

The bulb pumps out a respectable 50 lumens at maximum brightness and has a variety of modes. Run time for the bulb is 4 hours with the camera recording. Yet, if the battery runs low, the Fly6 prioritizes a HomeSafe mode to keep the minimum lights on to get you home. Installing is easy with a twist lock, and charging is two-hours with USB-C. The accompanying app includes more detailed information, and you can even edit exciting video clips from your race or ride.

  • Safety light and rear-view camera engineered for cyclists
  • Records video and flashes buld for up to 4 hours, simultaneously
  • Locks video and sound prior to and after incident to ensure recording
  • Smart loop records over older footage if you run out the memory card
  • HomeSafe powers down the light to a minimum to get home on a dwindling battery
  • Companion app for editing sweet video clips
  • Weather resistant for any kinda of fun

Stay away from this product

True to size

I replied to another user review but this is the same matter. My Fly6 basically was damaged in its second ride. I compared reviews from other websites and this seems to a common issue in prior version and continues here with so called Gen 3 version. - I think its just wrong to continue to sell this product without fixing a basic waterproofing issue (a loud claim made on Cycliq website). In my case it wasn't even rain, melting snow skunk striped the cam - If a product company selling bike cameras for 5-6 years haven't figured out production to make waterproof camera, why bother be in business? - Makes customer wait for 6 months and to deliver sub optimum engineered product? - You'll notice Cycliq doesn't allow customer reviews on their website (but Amazon and other merchants do) I feel pissed off not because electronics don't break down. It's the continued arrogance to sell Fly6 products with waterproofing issues at such premium price. Hope my product review helps avoid the lure of riding cams esp Cycliq like I did few months ago.

Fool me twice - shame on me

I've used it several times

I had the prior Fly6 CE and it failed in a rain shower after a year. I bought the new Fly6 Gen 3 and had it for 3 weeks. It failed in a light shower. I followed the exact directions of Cycliq to notify them and request a solution. Nothing. No response although their website says they will respond in 2 days. I am extremely disappointed. I had waited for 5 months from my order date to receive the new Gen 3. Then it worked for 3 weeks!

Sounds like my story. I ordered in September and finally arrived in February after shipping date was pushed several times. Took out for a ride 2nd day, no rain but only water stripes from melting snow that left the device damaged. I can see water bubbles inside camera lens and LED. Device won't boot. When put on charge, it heated up and you can smell its fried inside.

Great when it works. Battery life goes south after a while. I owned previous version five months and it failed. Company confirmed failure. Company is atrocious at customer service! Just research them! If you buy it, enjoy it quickly.
