Description

M2 Smart Trainer

Smart trainers are the best thing that’s happened to indoor cycling in a long while. Gone are the boring hours spent staring at a wall and just spinning the legs. With devices like the M2 Smart Trainer from CycleOps you can get in some meaningful training, maybe even arguably better than on the open roads.

The M2 uses an electromagnetically controlled resistance unit to provide a realistic and quantifiable workout as it seamlessly connects to virtual training apps like Zwift, TrainerRoad, Sufferfest, and others, with its dual ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth transmission. It also affords the ability to update its firmware wirelessly. The unit calculates cadence, speed, and power data without external sensors so you can hop on and get right to it.

Compared its H2 direct drive brother, this unit can handle 1,500 watts and simulates a 15% grade versus 2,000 watts and 20%, its slightly louder at 69-decibels instead of 64 at 20 MPH, and its PowerTuned power readings are +/- 5% whereas the H2 is 2%, however, its price of entry is also cut in half. With its CycleOps foldable Classic frame and spring loaded, bolt-action lever, it's also easier to store and to transport for travel and warming up at races. Its innovative clutch knob ensures optimal tire-to roller connection to virtually eliminate tire slippage or excessive wear.

It's compatible with most drop bar and mountain bike frames with an included steel quick release skewer and it has three settings for rear dropout spacing: 120, 130, and 135mm. An optional thru-axle adapter available for 142x12 and 148x12mm is sold separately. The 2-inch precision machined resistance unit roller allows for 650b, 700c, and 26 through 29-inch tires up to a 2.0-inch width. LED indicator lights communicate connectivity while the internal cooling system moves air through the trainer to keep it cool while its active thermal sensors ensure accurate performance data throughout the ride. All of CycleOps' trainers are tested to the combined weight (rider and bike) of 300 lbs.

  • The wide foldable base is portable, stable, and easy to store

Needs multiple size Skewers

The 6 1/2 inch Skewer is too small for my Motobecan Titanium with disk brakes. Unfortunately it appears that I may have to return the unit :(
