Embrace the long ride.

When you told your coworkers that your weekend plans included a 200km gran fondo, you received more than a few blank stares and incredulous expressions. Your attempts to reassure your offices mates — who were looking forward to baseball games and barbecues — that you'd be having fun fell flat, but you knew you didn't need their pity. After all, you signed up for this event, and with some careful planning, those 200km will be the best part of your weekend.

Craft understands better than your coworkers do, and the Swedish brand makes its men's Gran Fondo Bib Shorts specifically for occasions like these. You'd prefer to spend the next few hours in something slightly more relaxed than aero race kit, but you need bib shorts that will move with you and hold a contoured, supportive shape for your entire ride. That's exactly what the Gran Fondo's Lycra blended construction was designed to do. With four-way elasticity reducing muscle vibrations and nylon fibers added for durability, the Gran Fondo will wick moisture away from your skin as you sweat to keep you comfortable enough to take in the changing scenery along your route.

Craft lines the shorts with its Infinity C2 chamois, which features dual-density foam arranged in varying thicknesses to give you the right blend of support and cushioning for the duration of your ride. It's topped by a soft, antimicrobial top layer that seamlessly integrates the padding with the rest of the shorts, reducing the possibility of chafing or irritation over extended use. Craft chooses a classic bib strap design with long-term comfort in mind, with breathable fabric that will support and move with you as you're stretched out over the bars.

craft gran fondo bibs

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I like the comfort, fit, and breathability of these bibs. I have only worn them 4 times on warm humid rides between 1-2 hours long. loved the pad while riding. I would have rated them higher for summer rides except that I have two tears in the lycra already. The material does not like brushing against anything remotely sharp. The first rip happened while carrying my bike up some stairs and brushing my leg against a chainring tooth (right after the first ride). The second hole opened when my butt grazed a corner of a workbench as I walked by it two rides later. These would shred in a meeting with asphalt.
