Look great but not the best overall

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

Style is outstanding, I am 6'1" approx 200lb athletic build. Having purchased another pair of club ride pants I knew the size chart would be off. It says I should need large but I correctñy predicted I would need size XL for correct length and waist. Unfortunately these are very form fitting through the leg. Cannot be worn with knee pads. Despite seeming like a rugged pant the inability to put knee pads under them because of a narrow leg I can't recommend these for mountain biking aside from the tamest of sessions where one may omit protective gear. I had intended to use these as a winter Enduro/trail pant figuring since theyre listed as a downhill pant the would certainly have room for padding but another reviewer is right these would only work for the skinniest of legs. Bummer.

Really nice pants.....for skinny thighs.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

I really wanted to make these pants work. They seem perfect in most ways and the quality looks top notch. Love the look, features and materials. But after trying 3 different sizes, I just couldn't make it work.

I suspect the sizing/fit has changed recently, or maybe it's inconsistent from the factory. My experience with these doesn't seem to reflect what I've read in other reviews and what I see in the model photos.

I'm 6'0", 172 pounds with a fairly "normal" build (32-33 waist, 32 inseam). I normally fit into both regular-cut pants and slim-cut pants pretty well. But here's my sizing experience with these pants:

Medium: According to the sizing chart, these should work. I could get them on, but they almost fit like tights. Even though the material is a little stretchy, I don't think they're meant to fit this way. Forget about a base layer underneath. I knew immediately these would not work, so I returned them and tried a Large.

Large: Everything felt good except the thighs, which were pretty tight. Waist, length and lower legs were good. It's manageable, but still a little tight, and when I put on a base layer it was just too tight (kind of like "tights" again). The tightness was really only in the thighs, as if they weren't cut right. Again, I don't normally have issues like this with pants.

XL: These ones felt good everywhere except the waist. The waist was like 3 or 4 sizes too big and would require a belt. I was tempted to stay with these and just use a belt all the time, but decided the price was too high for this compromise.

So all in all, I think these are designed for people with really skinny thighs, which is surprising for cycling-specific pants. I'll be curious to see if other people find this to be the case. Otherwise they're a great set of pants, and I'm pretty bummed that I couldn't get them to work for me.

Solid pair of pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are the first pair of riding pants I've bought. I was very happy with them right out of the package, Comfortable, good material, and easy to ride in. I've only gone down the street and not off on trail though. But I think they'd be just as comfortable. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I thought they'd be a little more tapered at bottom of leg. More of a boot cut style pant. I would still recommend them.

Impressed

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased these pants to commute in. I've become somewhat of a goldilocks when it comes to dressing for the weather - too hot, too cold, but never just right. These pants have now filled a crucial gap for me. I wear them alone from the low 30s to 40s, pair with a set of thermal knickers down to the low teens, and thermal tights get me a few more degrees. I had my first crash in them yesterday - Too cocky to put studs on the tires, bunny hopped over a snow bank directly onto some slush I was going about 19 mph, and slid quite a ways on that wet slushy mix. The pants show the tiniest sign of abrasion, yet my pogies and jacket burned through in a few spots. I would not hesitate to pick up another pair!

Perfect Cold Weather Riding Pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These pants work great when the temp drops and you still want to get out and ride. Seems odd to mountain bike in pants, but you really don't notice in the Fat Jack Pant, which are just as comfy as your favorite short. Good amount of stretch and fit is spot on. Highly recommend for the shoulder season.
