Description

ThreadFit 24mm Bottom Bracket

With the somewhat dizzying and entirely aggravating variety of bottom bracket and crank standards that are being pushed onto the market, we have a special place in our hearts for companies that try to solve what we see as a problem. Chris King's new modular ThreadFit 24mm Bottom Bracket system is, frankly, genius, saving both riders and mechanics dollars and headaches. This external-cup threaded bottom bracket can accommodate virtually any road or mountain crankset so long as it's paired with one of CK's many BB Conversion Kits, and of course, you get CK quality along with it.

Chris King designs, engineers, manufactures, and assembles everything at its facility in Portland, Ore., USA, which is also one of the most eco-friendly facilities on the planet, repurposing old industrial machines for their purposes and recycling any and all materials wherever possible. That means the seals, the outboard cups, the bearings, and even the proprietary tools to install it all hail from the same factory. And if for nothing else, CK is known for precision. The company's bearings are made in-house to standards that ensure the insane longevity of King's products, known to last through multiple bikes, or even decades, with equal ease. With that degree of obsession built in to their price, we're confident that you'll be riding your Chris King bottom bracket for many years to come.

  • Requires Chris King Conversion Kit #12 to fit standard, 24mm-spindle Shimano cranks
  • Tapered, 22/24mm spindles (like those from SRAM) will require a small adapter
  • Thread-in compatibility
  • Steel or ceramic bearings
  • Made in USA

Over 5,000 miles in 8 months

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've ridden bicycles for over 100,000 miles. This Chris King bottom bracket is a gem. Very little friction, easy to maintain, and lasts a long time. Since I ride year round and am in the snow belt, I service my Chris King bottom bracket about every 400 miles using their grease injection tool. So easy and fast as the injected grease pushes out the contaminants and greases at the same time. I have found that the best way is to remove the circlips and washers each time because if I do not the washers will come out from the pressure of the grease injection. In short, you can do perfectly fine without the grease injection tool. I have tried the shimano bottom brackets and they are not as easily serviceable. I purchased the tool from enduroforkseals to pull the shimano bearings, grease them, and reinsert them. While that worked okay, it was quite a hassle because I had to pull the bearing cups out of the frame every time I serviced the bearings. Plus, I had to replace the bearings every 3,500 miles because the non-drive side always got rough. This year, Chris King upgraded their warranty on this bottom bracket to lifetime for the original owner so I purchased a second set and am now using that one exclusively. No way would I go back to any other brand for this particular bottom bracket.

    1000s of miles later...still smooth

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is the end-all, be-all to bottom brackets. I have this bb on my bikepacking bike, which has been over 4000 miles of rugged "road" and trail use, and the Chris King is still running as smoothly as ever. Ck's handy fit finder makes it easy to find the adapter you may need to fit your crankset spindle.

Wear In While Others Wear Out

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

As mentioned in all the reviews, there is no better bearing than a Chris King bearing. Their precision is second to none and while other BBs are wearing out, Chris King is wearing in. The longer you use them, the better they get. I've got this threadfit on my 2013 Santa Cruz, serviced once a year with Chris King's handy grease tool, and it's better than the day I installed it. Dead silent operation and without the chain attached, spin the crank, go make a sandwich, stop it after lunch.

    The gold standard

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Really the gold standard for BB’s with Chris King’s house-made bearings. Manufacturing tolerances are super tight, so I’ve never had one of these fail on me prematurely. Upgrade to the ceramic bearings if you want extra bike bling.

    Best there is

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Chris King leaves all other bearing components in the dust. This bottom bracket is the best there is. From XC to Freeride, there's nothing with King's longevity. Always rebuildable if you neglect it too long. Ultra-smooth for years. I've been building my custom bikes with King products for years because I know I can count on them to last and out perform all others out there.

    King of the Castle

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Chris King makes it's super easy to get a quality bottom bracket in a multitude of colors to match your ride. The instructions make the install pretty straight forward and if you pick up the grease tool you can service this BB yourself and keep it running smooth for years. All my bikes run the King and I've never had any issues. Cross, Road, TT, and MTB it's the only way to go.

Great BB that is serviceable and will add some bling to your rig. What wouldn't you like about that.

    Bottom Bracket-alicious!

If you're looking for a mighty, mighty fine BB for your bike, then this is what you need. Installs rather easily, and you're off pedaling. Easy to service too, if you need to re-grease later on down the trail. I am running this with a pair of Middleburn cranks on a 100mm wide bottom bracket fat bike. For me, I needed to get the Conversion Kit #16 to make everything play nice together. Normally I am all about Shimano setups; however, since they don't make a BB for a fat bike, I had to get this guy. Over the top, but then again, that's what I'm going for.

    Smoooooth

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I swapped out my GXP bb for this one and the difference is amazing. The quality of this product and the bearings is second to none. Highly recommended.

Hi TJ, I have 1400 x1 GXP crank, do I need a conversion kit?
