Description

InSet 2 Headset

Chris King headsets have been the industry benchmark for 35 years -- ever since the company created the first sealed bearing headset in 1976. This InSet 2 Headset is built upon that tradition, though it has different dimensions and style to fit current frame specs. It's designed for bike frames that require a tapered, semi-integrated (zero stack) headset.

We're not sure why it took Chris King so long to begin manufacture of their InSet. When we bought our first bike frames that required semi-integrated headsets, we wanted Chris King quality, even if the always luscious polished and anodized parts were going to be mostly obscured by the headtube of the frame. They're available in all configurations now, and the good news is that the InSet headset is like all other King headsets -- it will probably last longer than the frame you'll install it in. From the saddle, you'll get a view of that coveted logo on the top bearing assembly and steerer cap to remind you of your inspired purchase.

All parts of the InSet 2 Headset are machined in-house in Chris King's Portland facility, from the aluminum cups to the stainless steel sealed cartridge bearings. The bearings are pressed into alloy cups that are then pressed into the headtube. The difference between an InSet headset like this one and NoThreadset is that, here, the bearings are housed inside the headtube. The InSet 2 offers the same quality and precision that you've always expected from King parts, and the upper bearing cover uses their new GripLock compression ring assembly.

The Chris King InSet 2 Headset will mate a tapered fork steerer to a bike with a headtube having a 44mm ID top and 56mm ID bottom dimensions. You can also use a straight 1-1/8" fork if you use a 1.5 Devo baseplate (sold separately).

    Can't Beat it!

Love the fit, finish and quality of Chris King products and have only heard amazing things about the long term durability. Totally silent and smooth so far and I don't expect that to change any time soon. From what I hear it should out last the life of the bike itself.

One of the best headsets you can get by far. The limited edition colors always stand out and let you bling out your ride while knowing you are getting a high quality headset.

    Best there is

Chris King leaves all other bearing components in the dust. This headset is the best there is. From XC to Freeride, there's nothing with King's longevity. Always rebuildable if you neglect it too long. Ultra-smooth for years. I've been building my custom bikes with King products for years because I know I can count on them to last and out perform all others out there.

Only the King for Mach 6

After a little debate I decided to go with this InSet 2 Headset over Cane Creek on my new Pivot Mach 6. Why build a Boost enduro machine and skimp on the components? I have only ever had one bike with a Chris King Headset and am still kicking myself for selling it. But the King is back and here to stay. Best componentry out there and assembled in the USA. Big thanks to Joe Bolton in our Retail Store Bike Shop for getting my new Mach 6 put together. If you are ever in Salt Lake City definitely stop by our Retail Store to check out their bike selection and visit Joe (2607 S 3200 W, Suite A, West Valley UT 84119). Contact me with any questions about this headset, especially if you are interested in custom building a new mountain bike. The Best of The Best

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Chris King makes the only headset I'll run on any bike I own. Why? Because they machine, polish and hand assemble everything in their Portland facility for quality, availability and product control. Everything they make, they guarantee and their raw materials are sourced from US mills to guarantee the best processes available. Not only are they US made, but Chris King's InSet headsets are some of the smoothest, strongest headsets available. You won't hear them clicking, popping, stuttering or pulling after a few months, because Chris King headsets are designed to last for the lifetime of the bike... And longer. The InSet 2 was designed for low-stack quality in bikes with tapered pairings. Do yourself a favor and make the investment in your bike that a Chris King headset is.

A headset that will last longer then your bike. Why spend a bunch of money on a new bike and put a cheap headset in the thing. I have never had an issue with king headsets and will always use them in the future.

does this fit with the 2013 yeti sb66 carbon frame? thanks

Yes, it should fit but just in case measure the inside diameter of both the top lower openings of the headtube. The top inside diameter should measure 44mm and the lower inside diameter should measure 56mm (I had a 2014 Yeti SB66c with this headset).
