Keep your grease clean.

The Chris King 24mm Bottom Bracket Injector Tool is the last piece of your bottom bracket puzzle. This tool facilitates quick and easy maintenance of your Chris King Bottom Bracket, which will keep your BB spinning smoothly for decades.

Maintaining your bottom bracket has never been so easy. Simply remove your cranks and the plastic insert using the included extractor tool, insert the Grease Injection Tool and squirt fresh grease in while watching your old grease being pushed out. Then simply reinstall the plastic insert, followed by your cranks and you're all set.

Racers and those who frequently ride in adverse conditions, this system will pay for itself in no time, when compared to simply replacing a non-serviceable bottom bracket. Additionally, racers will appreciate the ability to flush out sticky grease in trade for a low-friction lubricant on race day.

Using the Chris King 24mm Bottom Bracket Injector Tool to maintain your King bottom bracket might just mean it'll be an awfully long time before you need another bottom bracket, so choose your color wisely.

Bottom Bracket Injector tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

An absolute must have for the Chris King bottom bracket. Road grit is literally sucked into the bottom bracket from the crank spindles. The tight tolerances in the Chris King bottom bracket do not react well to small grains of grit. There is no way to really clean out the grit from only one side of the bearing. This injector tool uses grease to flush out the bearing. I ride through the winter on the East Coast and find that during 100 mile weeks I need to flush the bearings with grease every time I clean and lube the chain, or about once a week. During the bottom bracket greasing road grit comes out with the old grease during the lube process. The injector process takes all of five minutes. Get this tool so you do not let road grit blow out your expensive bottom bracket. I blew one of mine out before I got this injector.

Is this necessary?

Unquestionably, a tool like this might offer some appeal to those who feel it will simplify the maintenance task, but I've been maintaining and servicing my bottom bracket bearings (and all other bearings) for many years by the traditional methods. I tried this tool (borrowed from a friend) and thought of it as a somewhat cool tool, but as a personal note, I would prefer to stick to conventional methods and reallocate the $55 to some other special tool or an upgrade.

Bottom line...unnecessary expenditure for a task that's not difficult to begin with. But I'm sure if offers appeal to some. Now if you could produce a tool that would lubricate your BB without having to remove the crank and spindle, That would be a 'need-to-have' tool.

Thanks for the review Craig! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

Is this for the 24mm or the 30mm bottom bracket?

Pretty sure this is for the 24mm. The other is listed as "Chris King 30mm injector" specifically.

Is this for the 24mm or 30mm bottom bracket?

This particular item is for 24mm BBs and CKG0065 is the 30mm version.

    Great Tool

Extremely great tool, chris king would hit a home run adding this addition to there bottom bracket, makes changing grease a snap!

    Nice to have

I like to do it myself instead of paying someone else. Good to freshen up the bearings every once in a while, and there is no point in buying quality gear and then failing to maintain it properly. Also, the silver nipple is a Zerk fitting that works with the Speedplay grease gun's Zerk adaptor.
