Strada Bianca Tire
The Challenge Strada Bianca Clincher Tire is so named after the famous "white roads" of gravel that wind their way through the Tuscan hills of Italy, where these tires are made by hand. Being designed for gravely, bumpy, rough roads, the Strada Bianca isn't just one of the toughest tires in Challenge's lineup, it's one of the smoothest-riding — which is saying a lot for a company known to dial in wonderfully comfortable ride quality into its tires.
The Strada Bianca clincher is referred to as an "open tubular" by Challenge, as the clincher design shares many of the same construction methods and materials as its tubular collection. For the casing, Challenge used its handmade, highly puncture-resistant, and lightweight SuperPoly material. With its 260 threads per inch (TPI), you receive a remarkably supple ride that you'll feel the first time out. On top of the casing, Challenge added a belt of corespun polyester, made by twisting fibers around a central filament core, creating one yarn from multiple strands. As a result, the material is between 40 and 50% stronger than typically spun materials, while retaining a similar, if not lower, overall weight. This layer is what Challenge calls its PPS (Puncture Protection System), and it's specifically made from the tightly woven polyester material to preserve the casing's supple feel. Challenge didn't stop there, however, as it knew this tire would be seeing its share of rough surfaces, so a second PPS layer was added on top of the first, giving you maximum flat protection without sacrificing overall ride comfort.
The new 30mm-wide profile was then wrapped with the popular Paris Roubaix herringbone tread pattern, a design that continues to be one of Challenge's most versatile for a variety of road surfaces. This low-profile pattern perfectly blends speed and grip. The tread was applied using Challenge's proven hand-glued methods, which involves mounting and then inflating the casing on a wheel. Only then does Challenge carefully glue on the tread layer. As a result, the tread isn't put under tension when you inflate the tire on your wheel, and that lack of tension leads to lower rolling-resistance, added grip, and increased comfort.
The Challenge Strada Bianca Clincher Tire weighs approximately 355 grams each, comes in the color Black/black, and in the 700x30mm size.

Great tires
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought
- 30mm
- Height
- 5` 4"
- Weight
- 130 lbs
They are not the easiest to mount. I had them mounted at my bike shop. Takes a bit more patience and experience, but these are great tires. I run them between 55-60 psi on my Hollowgram carbon wheels. Have had no issues or punctures. They ride like butter!!

1st Mounting Very Very Difficult
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- Runs small
I had been riding the Challenge Chicane’s for a couple of years. Easiest tire to mount ever. Decided to try the Challenge Bianca Strada’s on my spare Specialized Axis 4 wheels for evening rides. The first time I tried mounting them I almost gave up. They are ridiculously tight. I didn’t notice I had pinched the tube and blew off the tire on one wheel when seating it. On the Axis 4 wheels that requires almost 100 lbs. Remounting the second time was infinitely easier. Didn’t need tire irons. They must stretch and form a bit. I’ve been riding these at 55 lbs. and absolutely love them. 500 miles in they roll great, smooth ride, corner well and accelerate quickly. 100grams / tire less than the Chicanes. I will update this review if anything changes.

Skip these
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

They won’t fit. If you run these and get a flat you’re in for a very bad time. Do not buy these even if they are on sale, super discounted.

nope,won't fit
i echo all the comments about not fitting the rims. tried 3 different sets of wheels. i've had these tires in the past and loved them. maybe there is a quality control problem, altho the local shop confirmed they were a problem when i asked them to see if they could mount them. in the end we decided not to. how would i get them off if there was a flat?

Joe bike
Extremely hard to mount then blow off rims . Tried 2 wheels , type and size recommended by Challenge . Tires blew off both . Used ZIPP 202 and Mavic wheels . Tried to contact Challenge 2 times but no response . NO STARS

Impossible to Mount
For someone who has worked on bikes for years these were impossible to mount. Not worth the 6 dollars to have to ship them back. Do not bother with these tires.

Great tire until the next blowout
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Tried them on HED Ardennes + wheels and had three tube blowouts when the tire squirted off the rim at about 110psi. I am giving up. Maybe my rim is too wide but this never happened to me before, ever. They did feel great when they were working. I agree they are tight on the first mount and hard to get the tube properly in place. BTW, CC was very responsive & helpful and found me a different tire.

I had the same problem with these even at much lower pressure - 70 psi and blew off twice mid ride. Not safe.

Too tight to be usable
Tried to use these tires with a set of rims that I have had no problems fitting tires to in the past. Once I had used every trick in the book and almost an hour to get one side of the tire on the rim it is almost impossible to get an inner tube under the tire as the whole tire was so tight against the rim - when not inflated the middle of the tire has less circumference than the edge! Again with a lot of effort managed to squeeze a tube under but with it so screwed up to get it in just blew as I pumped. Tried again a few times with the same result. It may be better with a 650 tube. If you are willing to give these a go do not use with carbon rims as either your rims or levers will break before you get the tire on. Same problem with the two tires I bought so presume this is not a one off.

Definitely must be your rims. How wide are they? I just rolled two of these beauties on to standard road rims by hand. Had no trouble fitting tubes either. They're a really pliable tyre and I bet will feel awesome on the road tomorrow morning when I take them out.

They definitely take patience to get installed the first time. They are molded flat and stretch when inflated. I used a tube one size small which made it much easier. Subsequent remounts were no issue. I had the 30mm version, which may have helped.

110psi with a 30mm tire on that HED rim is way too much pressure! No wonder it blew off. Per the HED website, max for that rim is 90psi.
