Push it to the limit.

Guess what? The days of spending over $200 on cycling computers with wireless technology and heart rate readings are over. With the new CatEye Strada Digital Cadence Wireless Computer, you gain access to all of the crucial cycling metrics, as well as cadence and heart rate. It's time to take your training to the next level.

CatEye designed the Strada Digital with its ease-of-use at the forefront of design. Accordingly, its ClickTec design provides a simple-to-use, single button operation system. So, you can easily navigate through metrics like current speed, trip distance, elapsed time, average speed, maximum speed, heart rate, and cadence. That's right, for under $100 you get access to cadence readings.

This is made possible by CatEye's ISCTec sensor. It mounts to the chainstay of your frame and is responsible for both speed and cadence readings. And as a technology update to problems that we've experience from CatEye in the past, the Strada's wireless communications are now transmitted through 30 different ID codes. This way, there's no confusion or intermixing of your readings while you're riding in the peloton, or on secondary bikes.

Don't think that we've neglected the importance of the Strada heart rate monitor. With the Cateye HRM chest strap (sold separately) you can maximize your training and racing by learning your sustainable output within your heart rate zones. And to support this training method, the Strada is capable of computing readings ranging from 0 to 199 bpm. Now, you have the metrics to tell you if jumping off of the front is possible on a sustained climb.

Another couple of key features are the Strada's minimal size and weight. The CPU measures out to 46.5 x 31 x 16mm, and it only weighs around 20 grams. Additionally, the CPU setup is a simple affair, as is its mounting setup. In fact, CatEye includes its tool-free FlexTight bracket that mounts to either your stem or bars.

The CatEye Strada Digital Cadence Wireless Computer is available in the color Black and in one size. Each computer includes a CR2032 battery, FlexTight mounting bracket, and an ISCTec sensor.

  • Simple bike computer with speed, cadence, and heart rate capability
  • Runs on a CR2032 watch battery

Perfect for basic training

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It doesn't have the fancy features of the more expensive computers. But it works just fine if you wan't to control your speed and cadence.

Basic, but good for the price

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I got this and played around with it a bit before ultimately returning it and going for a Garmin 510 instead. It seemed to be a good computer with all of the basic features, but I'm happy that I ultimately chose to upgrade to a Garmin. The display on this unit is ok - not my favorite as it seems rather small and has limited customization options but it covers the basics. The instructions walked through the install and set up in pretty good detail as well.

I ultimately chose to go for a GPS unit for a couple of key reasons:
- Garmin accessories (HRM, cadence, power meter, etc) are pretty easy to find and offer a wide range of upgrade options
- Having a unit that syncs to app / online training programs seamlessly is really really nice
- Running a GPS unit means no wheel magnets or sensors cluttering up your bike (the speed / cadence sensor in this kit is pretty bulky and didn't fit on my bike's chain stay very well)
- Having a GPS unit gives you a certain degree of multi-sport functionality (hiking, running, etc)

If you're looking for a low-frills computer that covers the basics (speed, cadence, HRM (w/ add on strap)) this computer is a pretty good choice. That being said, there are a lot of nice features that Garmin and other GPS computers provide that aren't available at this level

Good tool for riding

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nice details available on the computer for analytics and seems to work well so far. A little difficult getting it set up properly w/ the measurements I wanted but good since initial start up. Needs a chest strap!

Good computer easy to install, use

This computer ticks off all my 'musts'-wireless, cadence, not complicated to use. And, as a bonus, you can add heart rate functionality (must buy compatible strap/sending unit). A feature I like is ability to enter total mileage if you like to keep up with useless data like I do. Simple to install. Battery lasted about 11 months. I also like the mounting system that allows 90 degree difference so you can mount on handlebar or stem.

Good computer easy to install, use

    Cadence is key

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Cadence is a key part of my training regimen. And having a computer to meter it is extremely helpful. Japanese engineering!

    Good wireless computer.

I purchased this wireless computer because I needed a computer for my Kinetic Rock n Roll 2 home trainer. I needed it to display speed, distance, cadence, and elapsed time. This has it's receiver on the rear chain stay so it is perfect for a home trainer. No wires is great too! I can use this on the road as well without changing a thing. Under $100 a good value for versatility. Love the easy one button menu change.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Having a speedometer and an odometer on such a small interface is quite amazing. The actual computer itself was much smaller in size than I had envisioned but it is perfect for mounting onto your bike as that way your field of vision isn't compromised in any way. Further, for us bikers, it is always interesting and nice to be able to easily access information about distance and speed for training purposes as well as having the available heart rate monitor, sold separately, available for those of us on strict training regimes. Lastly, the single button system for switching between modes is incredibly handy as you only have to deal with one button to click while you're riding if you want to change modes and not crash.

Not that I am aware of, I had to get my HRM strap from amazon, make sure you get the 2.4Ghz not the Ant+

      Great Design!

This is a great bike comp with cadence for the price. I got this for someone that doesn't need all the bells and whistles but something with cadence for sure. Seems to do the trick so far and will update later with more use. We are happy with the look of the and the design is sleek!

I purchased this computer. Do you sell...

I purchased this computer. Do you sell the chest strap for this computer so that the heart rate monitor can be used? If not what is the best way to get one?

        Where's the Chest Band ???

The description says,"The CatEye Strada Digital Cadence Wireless Computer is available in the color Black and in one size. Each computer includes a CR2032 battery, heart rate monitor chest band, FlexTight mounting bracket, and an ISCTec sensor."

There is no Chest Band and they don't seem to sell one either. Is this some kind of a bait and switch.???

It looks like the description has not been amended to reflect that the heart rate monitor chest band is sold separately, but the sidebar info says it is. Based on your experience, it looks as if the sidebar information is correct, and not the main description. I am sure Backcountry will refund your purchase.

I think your one-star rating because of an inaccurate description is going to be misleading to a potential buyer. You rated the description, the copy editor, and/or customer service, but certainly not the actual product.

The chest band is apparently not sold here at BC, or is at least not in stock. It is available at Amazon for $54.00, though.

You can also get the strap and other parts from CatEye direct ( actually an independent vendor):
