Description

Velocissimo IV Short

As its name suggests, the Castelli Men's Velocissimo IV Short helps you move as swiftly as possible down the road, all without uncomfortable pressure points or chafing holding you back. It provides a superb fit with its Pro Dry Soft fabric patterned to move stitching away from sensitive areas that lead to annoying irritation. Smooth flatlock stitching lies flat against your skin, so it won't lead to irritation or chafing as you pedal at a swift cadence on training rides and grind it out across long distances.

Castelli eliminated the elastic leg bands that tend to dig into your skin, replacing them with raw-cut leg endings with vertical silicone grippers to ensure the bottoms don't ride up and require mid-ride adjustments. The Doppio waistband provides additional stretch around your stomach, also ensuring a secure, non-slip fit with its wider design that better distributes pressure.

It's finished with Castelli's KISS Air chamois, which tapers in thickness from 4 to 14 millimeters from the sides to rear, giving you optimized padding and support where you need it and greater flexibility to pedal and maneuver your bike. This chamois is comprised of dual-density, dimpled foam that rapidly draws perspiration off your body where it can readily evaporate and prevents odor build-up with its anti-odor treatment.

  • Cycling short focused on riding comfort, go-fast efficiency
  • Pro Dry Soft fabric is stretchy, supportive, quick-drying
  • Anatomical patterning eliminates chafing and irritation
  • KISS Air chamois balances plush support with flexibility
  • Chamois has dimpled microfiber surface to speed up drying
  • Doppio waistband distributes pressure and prevents slipping
  • Raw-cut leg endings with silicone bands for a secure fit

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Inseam:
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Compression Fit - Meant To Be Tight

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

True to size

Other reviewers say they're too tight. They're meant to be. Great shorts and great chamois. But I think they use too much silicone at the hem. I'm a little sensitive to that. My longest ride has been 70 miles in these and they comfortable, but my legs itch after I take them off. I weigh 150 and the medium works for me.

Always have to size up with castelli, but these are great shorts. I usually wear a medium, but the large are perfect for my 32 inch waist and 155lb body. Very comfortable and I’m riding 1 mph faster. Not really.

I am normally a XXL/XXXL ...i purchased the XXXL...i can barely fit one thigh into it....VERY SMALL...thanks but no thanks...will stick with the bibs

i came to say the same. i'm a 33/34 waist and took a chance and bought the 3xl version of these shorts. they barely fit. idk what's going on at castelli. are their users really this tiny? i should be able to parachute in 3XL shorts...

I wear a large in the Castelli I have at home and in the Castelli Endurance 2 model. Couldn’t get my little buttocks into this Large. I assume the quality is great!

HIgh Quality, Poor Sizing

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

The shorts are great, but run small even by normal Castelli standards & size chart. I wear an XL in Castelli bottoms (including Velocissimo winter tights & Volo shorts), but these in XL felt about 2 sizes smaller. For ref, I'm 5' 8", 170 lbs, 35 inch waist.

First class, but doublecheck your sizing

Getting back into road riding after a couple decades on the trails, and bought this first pair of road shorts after a lifetime in Pearl izumi. I can;t speak to the advances PI has made since then, but these are astonishingly high quality that make my budget MTB liners laughable. Chamois, fabrics, grippers, seams... everything is well thought out and aids performance. A couple hours on the trainer in the saddle goes by like a breeze with no fidgeting or numbness like before. I wash them in the shower with me and they're dry 12 hours later just hanging on a hook indoors. I was concerned about sizing like everyone is, so my gear expert said to go with XL where I would normally wear a M in street clothes (6' 2", 164 lbs, 32 in waist) and it was spot on. Wouldn't change a thing. I'll be looking for another pair for my upcoming birthday!
