CastelliVelocissimo 4 No Chamois Tight - Men's
Item # CST00U8
Velocissimo 4 No Chamois Tight
The Velocissimo 4's provide just the right balance of soft, fleecy warmth and minimalist support for training in chilly temperatures and blustery conditions. Castelli uses Thermoflex fabric to keep cooler temperatures from plunging your body temperature when you're riding in early spring and autumn. Because there's no chamois you have the option of wearing your favorite padded shorts underneath for additional warmth and sit bone support.
- Balance of soft, fleecy warmth and support for chilly rides
- Slides over padded cycling shorts for customizable support
- Thermoflex traps warmth from escaping with its fleece lining
- Lower ankle zips for an ideal fit with your cycling shoes
- Reflective details stand out in low-light conditions
- Recommended for 43 - 53 degrees Fahrenheit

Smaller than other Castelli Bibs/Tights
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- XL
- Height

I normally wear an XL in all things Castelli, but the VELOCISSIMO 4 TIGHT - NO PAD fits much smaller than other Castelli tights. They are so tight I am worried about damaging the fabric as I struggle to pull them on. I can barely get them over my quads and had to reposition them several times to get the zippers closed below my calves. The seaming in the crotch makes it unadvisable to wear these tights as a skin layer, they should be worn over other cycling shorts with a chamois to protect you from the center line seam. Speaking of seams, there are a lot of pronounced seams in these tights and you feel each one as you pedal (probably exacerbated by the previously mentioned sizing issue). The soft and stretchy fleece fabric is adequately warm at 40-50 deg F, but quite slippery on the saddle, this might be a concern for some. I also noticed that the elastic inside the waistband is adverse to laying flat and tends to twist or roll. Unfortunately since I bought these tights directly from Castelli I am unable to exchange or return them due to their restrictive Returns Policy which states "New and unused gear can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. Product must be returned unworn and unwashed, with the original packaging, including manufacturer tags." I should have purchased these from Backcountry/Competitive Cyclist since they have an Exchange/Returns policy much more appropriate for online shopping. Overall I want to like these tights, but the sizing issue has caused them to be so tight that they are unusable and due to Castelli's limited Returns Policy I have no option but to sell/trade them off to someone smaller. I rated this item at 2 Stars, one for the fabric and another in hope that they would perform as expected if sized properly.

Looking at the other reviews, there should be a warning on this item. No chance to get into XL, which is what I wear all the time with other brands. Couldn't even get these over my thighs.

Order 2 sizes up!

I wear M in just about all clothing and bike gear (except gloves and socks), so ordered M in these based on the size chart. WAY tight! I couldn't even get them around my thighs - think 'Eurocut' sizing circa 1990s. I'll be returning them for an XL and crossing my fingers. Otherwise they seem well constructed. I wear 33 waist in most jeans.

Just right tights!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:

- Size Bought
- Large
- Height

- Weight
- 195 lbs
I already had a couple of pair of tights, one pair that is very thin that I also use for running, and one pair that is thermal, wind proof and padded for COLD days. I wanted something in between, and not padded. I spotted the Velocissimo 4 No Chamois Tight - Men's on the site and pulled the trigger. I have worm them a couple of times and overall they are just what I was looking for. I can wear them over or under my cycling shorts (because they are not padded) They fit snug, (typical Castelli) which is okay - but may require getting used to. My only negative is that when I wear them over my bike shorts, I find myself sliding around on the saddle a bit. It's not bad, but noticeable for me. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars, I am 6'0" 195 and bought a size Large.

Too small

Nice tight but runs way too small. I bought based on the size chart and need to pay to return them. (after talking to customer service, the return shipping costs were waived) Bought size L for 34-35 waist and I am afraid that they might still be too small even exchanged for an XL.

The tights look good, but the sizing is way off, at least on the one I received. I bought a men's medium based on the sizing chart. The size might fit a 100 pound teenager with pencil thin legs and tiny waist. I measured the waist on the tights and it is 24 inches. I have a 32 inch waist so not even close. I could barely get one leg part one up. The length looks okay. Perhaps this one is has a factory defect.
