Almost as bad as getting caught in a storm minus a jacket is riding in a shell that retains body heat and moisture. Castelli's Velo Women's Jacket is a lightweight, portable solution that features a breathable fabric and ventilation ports to prevent a soggy mess.

Sewn from Forcefield fabric, an exceptionally lightweight 30-gram, ripstop material that is windproof and water-resistant, the Castelli Velo Jacket is so light that you'll barely notice it's there. Additionally, the Women's Velo jacket is highly breathable and features covered ventilation ports on the sleeves and the back to exhaust heat and to prevent getting drenched from the inside-out. It should be noted that while the Velo is ideal for drizzle or windy conditions, it does not feature fully taped, waterproof seams — if you need to keep a deluge at bay, take a look at Castelli's rain jackets.

Cut with a longer back, the Velo jacket keeps road spray from dampening the ride. A high mesh collar keeps precipitation from running down the neck, and when the sun comes out, the collar turns into a pocket to store the entire jacket. It only takes up half a jersey pocket, so it's perfect to carry on "what if" weather days. Castelli added reflective logos and back tabs to the Women's Velo Jacket to increase low-light safety.

The Castelli Velo Jacket - Women's is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black, Lime, and Orange Fluo.

Featherlight and great color

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Size med jacket for 5'4. Fits exceptionally well, as a cyclist would want it to fit. Quiet material. Orange fluo is brighter than std hi-viz yellow and more unique.

light, nice looking, does the job

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: xs

love the look, the fit, and the function. it would be nice if it had a pocket or two, but most lightweight jackets do not

Sweet, lightweight wind jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

Love this jacket for windy, spring riding!! I purchased the blue, and I love the color. It was on clearance, so the price was right. I purchased the small, and it fits well. I am 5 ft 6 in and weigh 115 lbs. I often wear an XS in my upper body, so the jacket probably runs a bit on the small side.

Almost Transparent - fits small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

This jacket is a very thin windbreaker. so thin that you can practically see through it (one reviewers picture should have tipped me off). Orange color is more safety orange than I expected. Also fits small. I am a solid sz 14 and XL was tight. Bummer.

Girl friend's Christmas list

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs small

My girl friend asked for this feather weight wind jacket for Christmas.
She hasn't had a chance to try it out yet, but she does look smashing in it. We are riding this Saturday, and I'm sure she'll let me know how she likes it. I have the same jacket in green, and i really like mine.

Have information to share:

"It was very last minute, i needed a jacket for the Goldilocks bike ride i was doing, and the weather changed to rainy and cold.

I didnt want to spend a whole lot on a jacket that i would wear only when it rained, so i decided to give this jacket a try.

I underestimated how much it would rain that day. Like it says in the description, it "is ideal for drizzle or windy conditions, it does not feature fully taped, waterproof seams — if you need to keep a deluge at bay, take a look at Castelli's rain jackets." In the first 10 miles, it was more of a drizzle and a little bit windy and it worked perfectly! I had no complaints, in fact i was so happy that i went with this jacket rather than splurging on something waterproof. As the ride went on, it kept getting worse and worse. Eventually, the rain came seeping in and got all my clothes wet underneath. I probably weighed an extra 20 lbs due to all the water that had gotten through. This is not a bad product at all, it is just made for different conditions.

If i would have known it was going to rain like that, i would have done more research and spent a little bit more to get something warmer.

This jacket is pretty true to size. I usually wear an XS and went with the XS due to the size chart.

The only complaint I really have about this jacket is it didnt stay down in the back. It kept riding up the entire ride."

Great jacket

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

No made for a deluge but it will keep morning mist or some sprinkles away. The wind protection is excellent however and the jacket packs very small. Great jacket!
