stays in place, fits well, provides enough warmth, and protects the skin from the sun. it's perfect for those slightly chilly rides or when you're in between sun and cover. i would even consider wearing on a warm day to use for sun protection.

Great material, almost silk like. Does not retain heat. I do not notice them while riding. I had a bad knee replacement. The sleeve around my knee combined with CBD oil is a great help. Even in the heat of the summer the knee skins feel good. Highly recommended.

Great for summer

I ride in the desert heat and sun and need serious protection. I got these in black. They are very light and cool to wear and true to size. I still use sunblock on my knees just in case, and the combo seems to work great. They stay in place and I barely notice them. I cut the inside logo tags off as they irritated my skin. Otherwise, they are perfect. They hold up in the wash. I'm going to order a second pair in white.

Castelli Knee Sleeves Keeping Me Cool!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

- True to size
I just got these and the Pearl Izumi Sun Knees in the mail. These sleeves are VERY light weight and feel silky. I ordered the black in a small and they fit perfectly and did not slip at all on today's ride. The Pearl Izumi were heavier and the small was way too big. I live in Arizona where HOT is the name of the season from May to October. I have very long legs and finding shorts long enough for me is always a challenge and leaves me with lots of my upper legs exposed. Lately I have been getting a heat/sun rash and so I thought I would give these a try. I wore these this morning on a 30+ bike ride here in the AZ heat (temps topped out around 98 degrees). I found them to be comfortable and hardly even noticable and was surprised at how cool my legs felt. And I was so happy to NOT have any red bumpy rash at the end of the ride. Washing them now and will hang to dry. I do think these are definitely a winner. However, If things change, I will post it. JUNE UPDATE! Heat index is UP and these continue to keep me cool in 90+ degree temps. Truly a winner!!!

No. Not everyone has two legs. You will need to order two. I only ordered one because I only need sun protection on my left leg. I'm ok with getting a terrible sum burn on the right leg. But not the left. That one is the money maker

So far, so good

I've worn these ~2 times. It's been hot both days, but they didn't feel any hotter than riding without them. I was most worried about size. I'm 5'11", ~150lbs. My thighs are 21.5" around, my calves ~15". I'm a Large and they fit great. I wear about a 32/32 in pants. They've ridden down about 1 inch over the course of a 50 mile ride, but I think they'll be fine if I wear them under my shorts instead; they've got grippers on both sides, so they can be worn over or under shorts.

Pretty Good, But . . .
- Familiarity:

The top band capably maintains the legging on the thigh without feeling too tight. The calf hem is very nice - no elastic, just a flat hem. I wore this product twice - once with the thigh band on top of my shorts and once underneath my shorts. Both ways worked well, but I did find having the band on top of the shorts was more comfortable. No issues with the leggings falling down. I was disappointed after 5 hours riding that my thighs still showed some sun irritation. When held to the light, the material does permit rather good see-through. The fabric is very soft. If you are someone like me who must be vigilant about sun exposure, these are good for cloudy days or short sunny day rides. I will keep looking for a denser knit material for longer sunny day rides. I have also read UPF-rated clothing only protects from UVB rays and not UVA rays - must wear sunscreen underneath UPF clothing to block both ray types.

It's true that UPF ratings are based solely on UVB protection, but that doesn't mean UPF-rated clothes provide no UVA protection. Clothes in general have been proven to have higher UVA/UVB protection ratios compared to the majority of broad-spectrum sunscreens.

I tried these on after trying out a pair of Pearl Izumi sun protectors. The Castelli fabric felt softer. The Castelli fabric also felt cool on my skin. The Castelli also has a more functional silicone strip for the thigh area to keep them from slipping. The Castelli is lighter as well. Only gave them 4 stars because I noticed a seam starting to tear right out of the box. I'll fix it before it gets worse. I am 5'10 and weight 160. My thigh is 20 inches and my calf is 12 inches. I originally purchased a medium and they were too tight around the thigh. Put in an order for a Large the same day. Hoping they fit perfect.

Are there different UPF or cooling qualities between the black and white colors?
