Transition 2 Jacket

We’ve all been caught out in the over-eager, early spring bravado ride, donning only a jersey and baselayer, and trusting ourselves to be impervious to winter’s lingering hold. Castelli rescues our goosebumped egos with the Transition 2 Jacket that boasts just the right amount of seasonal-protection to keep us performing at our best when the weather isn’t quite there. Gore-Tex Infinium blocks chilly spring and fall air on the chest and sleeves, while insulating fleece on the back traps in enough body heat for base miles, but supplies enough breathability to hit critical season opener sets.

The Transition 2 hangs well placed your Castelli closet, providing similar support on cooler rides as does the Alpha RoS Light, just without the rain protection and extra weight. Reflective panels run on the front and rear of the Transition 2 for low-light riding conditions, and three-rear pockets carry all the traditional essentials for the modern cyclist.

Runs REALLY small

I'm 6'1", 200 lbs and pretty average physique. I wear L in most things but XL in a lot of cycling clothing. I've had a lot of Castelli cycling clothes, (jerseys, bibs etc.) and you'd think I would have learned. Castelli is European sizing. This appears to be a super nice jacket for cool weather rides. Very comfortable materials. I ordered an XL first. I could barely zip it up. The bottom of the jacket was up to my belly button! SUPER SMALL! I returned it for an XXL. I'll update when it comes.

Awesome jacket for the shoulder seasons

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This jacket has been fabulous over a month of use in the late (endless) winter of Utah this year. It is a softshell design with plenty of stretch, good windproofing in the front and more breathable material in the back. It is super cozy on the skin with a zipper that works well and comes up nice and high without any pressure around the neck. It is a little bulky compared to the midweight shell I was originally trying to replace but it still stays put in my back pocket even if it hangs out a lot. Sizing is typically small, XL for me at 6" and 180 lbs. And this is a nicely snug fit, no flapping around. Visibility is nice too in the Yellow Fluo color so I feel pretty good using this for commuting as well as recreational rides.

This is a fantastic Castelli jacket. As the description says, you can feel the front "panel" blocking the wind and a slight cooling feeling as heat escapes through the back. I normally wear XXL in Castelli but this one fits perfectly in XL. I've used it for winter mornings in Southern California, 45 degrees or so. I go with a light base layer at this temp. Tried a heavier base layer and got too sweaty as the day warmed up.
