Description

Summer Skullcap

When helmet padding just won't cut it to keep the sweat out of your eyes on mid-summer rides, don the Castelli Summer Skullcap to keep cool and dry. Made to sit unobtrusively under your helmet, this cap is constructed of a wicking layer around the headband to sop up sweat and keep your eyes sting-free. Across the top, a mesh layer provides oodles of ventilation and protects your dome from harmful sun rays for cool, worry-free miles.

  • Hot-weather skullcap that keeps sweaty discomfort at bay
  • Wicking mesh material breathes well and pulls sweat from skin
  • Form-fitting construction fits neatly under your helmet

Helps with sweat management

Familiarity:

Love having these skull caps for riding, weather it’s summer or winter, it helps keep the sweat out of your face and eyes. Stretches a bit over use, but that’s years of use. So for the price, it’s a great investment, as this is my second Castelli skull cap. This is really meant for warmer weather, as it only covers your head and doesn’t come down over your ears. But does great with that.

This skullcap fits comfortably and kept the sweat out of my eyes. I have yet to use this skullcap on a real hot (90F) day, but so far on 70-80F rides it has kept my head cool and sweat at bay. I wear a large size helmet and found no issues with the single size. I read other reviews and all mentioned a sizing issue as this is a one size product.. perhaps this is no longer the case.

Works as intended for me

Works nicely to keep sweat out of my eyes and sunglasses. I also have a few of the Giro skull caps, but I prefer the thinner material of the Castelli cap for hot summer weather. Also, the Castelli cap lays flat and smooth under the helmet, whereas the Giro has two pronounced seams which may affect fit or comfort for some. A note on sizing: As others have stated, this cap fits tightly, but Castelli may have recently adjusted the sizing, as my second one of these has a more forgiving fit. The first was uncomfortably tight, but it stretched out after several uses/wash cycles and is very comfortable now. For reference I wear a POC Omne Air Spin helmet size M. Head circumference is 57.5cm.

I also use Medium size helmets (with plenty of spare room for balaclava plus hat in the winter) - this one is very small for me almost immediately resulting in a headache. I like Castelli race fit tight jerseys and bibs, but in headgear too tight is a problem. If you have a small head, it looks to be decent quality. Otherwise Castelli Bandana is not bad.

Nice and stretchy, fit on my medium sized melon perfectly. I saw some complaints that it's too small, but it's really stretchy. Better ventilated than the cycling caps I have. It does a great job of keeping the sweat out of the eyes when riding both indoors and out, although after it's completely soaked indoors it's not much help, but I've yet to find anything other than a mop that helps with that issue. Definitely my go to head wear during the warmer months!

I don't know who can wear this. I have a M size helmet, and no hair. And it barely fit. It would not be comfortable for any period of time.

Always love Castelli product. This skull cap is super thin/lightweight and is amazing at wicking away sweat. I have tried Assos, Pearl Izumi, Lululemon and others but this (for me) has been the best. Fits snug but is very stretchy so no problems staying put on my medium sized noggin. Others complained that it was too small which is strange to me seeing how stretchy it is- if you have a lot of hair I could see it being a problem. Keeps the sun off my head, sweat out of my eyes, and does a great job at cooling me off. Flat lock seams and thin material make it so I don't feel it under my helmet. Being so thin, and not apparently absorbent- I am not sure how it does such a great job of wicking away the sweat but it does better than any other skull cap I've used. Great product.

I like this skull cap for being lightweight and it does a good job with perspiration. I don't like the fit since it fits small and gives me a headache often.

It is a one size unisex. It fit over my head but after a while it would just shrink back to its original size, and in shrinking, it would slip off my head. In short, it would not stay put. It seems to have worked for others but it did not for me and my quite bald head. Thank you

Have a hard time making it stay put

I was hoping this will stop sweat from reaching my eyes. It has helped, but not as expected.

This is a very lightweight skull cap that looks good and fits well. I started to wear this under my helmet to avoid the turtle shell pattern that develops on my bald head on sunny days. One added benefit: no more sweat dripping down the inside of my sunglasses.

Favorite for Warm Rides

The Castelli Summer Skullcap does exactly what it should under a helmet for riders (like me) with short or thin hair. It keeps sweat out of they eyes and off the glasses lenses, and keeps the sun off the scalp. The cap is nice and thin and all the stitching is flat-lock, so there is never any extra pressure or discomfort. It cools really well, to the point that it can feel chilly in temperatures under 65 or 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I have a couple of these!

I have a big head, and this thing fit just fine. It is nice to have one that is black because it doesn't show like a white one does through my helmet vents. I suppose in the summer it might retain heat from the sun, so I'll go back to my white ones exclusively for those months. I've owned previous versions of this brand and they've lasted through countless washings. Solid value and performance.

I have worn headsweats for years. This is a lot better material and quality. It does fit a little snug, I have a medium size head. I wear this to shelter head and thinning hair from the sun.

Love - Hate

Fit:
Runs small

I love most ALL Castelli cycling wear, and own tons of it, from Alpha, Sorpasso tights down to several short sleeve jerseys and bib shorts, gloves, even toe thingys. But this Summer Skull Cap has way too much Lycra in it. It took both hands (wishing I had a third) just to stretch it out over my head. Once on it just wanted to pop off. Might work if you have a small head, mine's large (58 cm circumference) so this went back. Going to buy another Headsweats Eventure Skullcap in white to complement the one in red I already own.

The correct word is "complement" not "compliment."
