Gear up against the chill.

Winter riding kit choices get a bit more complicated than the usual summer routine of finding the closest clean bibs and jersey to head out the door, but Castelli looks to simplify the process with its Men's Puro 2 Men's Jersey. With thermal fabrics and reflective detailing, this jersey is a go-to piece for chilly-weather rides.

The secret to the jersey's protective qualities lies in Castelli's use of Warmer fabric for the main body and Warmer X-Stretch for the side panels and sleeves. Warmer places equal emphasis on insulation and breathability, because evacuating sweat and water vapor from a cyclist's microclimate is as important to staying warm as trapping body heat. Warmer X-Stretch is a more elastic version that fits tighter under and across the arms, eliminating flapping caused by excess material to maintain the Puro's race-worthy fit.

Though Castelli claims that this jersey provides ideal warmth for temperatures ranging from 55-68 degrees, we'd happily pair it with a base layer well under those temperatures without any concerns. For finishing touches, Castelli adds an elastic gripper at the waist and three rear pockets with enough space to carry snacks and other small essentials along for the ride.

  • A thermal jersey for chilly rides
  • Insulating fabric provides warmth and breathability
  • Streamlined fit reduces excess material
  • Three rear pockets stow essentials
  • Reflective accents increase visibility in low-light conditions

Castelli FTW

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Great jersey for rides in temps between 50-60 degrees. I prefer jackets/jerseys a smidge larger for layering so if I ordered again I would choose a Large. Overall great looking jacket and excellent quality as always from Castelli.

Enjoy the ride.

Versatility and Looks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I'm very happy with this Jersey, I'm 5'10 and 163 lbs. The Medium fits well, not too tight, they run true to size. Great for those early pre sunset rides. Once the Sun is out and temps pick up it also works very well and ventilates enough to keep you comfortable. Very Happy with this Jersey gets me a lot of compliments. I have machine washed it over 10 times already, inside out to preserve the graphics and hang dry to prevent shrinkage.

good for mtb, not road

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: xxl

if you ride road, this jersey will be too cold, you will need a wind breaker because riding fast, the wind will just go thru it and it wont keep you warm. for mtb however, you normally ride much slower so it works well. the arms are a bit sticky due to the castelli logo, other than that, it's a decent jersey but not as warm as they describe. it's good for 60degree+ up to 15mph... if you ride 20mph+ you need to add a wind breaker.

Great long sleeve jersey!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

This is one of my first Castelli pieces of clothing and it’s great! Very comfortable! I have used it on several rides in the mid to low 50’s (degrees). I have worn it with a short sleeve base layer and jersey underneath, creating a good balance of warmth and breathability. I would definitely recommend this piece.

Excellent comfort and value

Casttelli has been my favorite brand. This jersey is excellent in cold morning rides, it's perfect in the 50-60 degree range. I like the inside flap at the collar, it still keep you warm even you unzip a bit at the collar. Fit and breathes well. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent value on sale

great jersey, fits like all Castelli - slightly smaller than US-made gear. Good in the 50s with a base layer, and 40s with base layer and vest.

My favorite winter jersey

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This jersey has become my winter favorite. I live in the Central Valley of CA and have many rides in the 50-60 degree range. This jersey is the perfect weight. Good fit and breathes well. I would definitely recommend it.

Warm and breathes well

I likey. Usable from 55F all the way to sub-freezing when paired with a base layer underneath and a windproof item on top (I go with the Castelli Perfetto), this thing is versatile. This and the Perfetto have made riding in the fall, winter, and (probably) spring in New England a lot more comfy.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Great Long Sleeve Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

I'm 190cm (~6'3), 95kg (~210#). With Castelli I typically go with XXL tops which gives me a snug, just short of race, fit. I really like this jersey in cool conditions under the Perfetto vest and when the temperatures start to drop I layer the Flanders warm base layer under it.

Very comfortable, breathes well but good warmth. Nice high neck and long sleeves with tapered cuffs. Well designed, great piece of kit.

shoulder season / fake winter piece

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

Sizing: let's face it, that's probably what you're most concerned with so I'll start there. I'm about 6'3" (190 cm) and 200 lbs (91 kg) and I like the fit of my XL. My arms are longer than I am tall, and the sleeves are plenty long enough to have adequate overlap between cuff and glove. You'll notice in my picture that the jersey isn't tight on my torso, nor is it baggy. If you prefer a more loose fit, size up. If you like a more race fit that won't sag with full jersey pockets, size down from your normal Castelli size.

I really enjoy the Puro 2 for rides in the 50's to low 60's as a standalone piece, and use it in lower temperatures with an appropriate base layer. As you'd expect from Castelli the hand feel on this piece is very supple and feels quite comfortable against bare skin. My favorite features of the jersey are its balance of warmth and breathability, which is key in times like October when you're freezing in the morning and ready to hit the pool in the afternoon.

I really don't have any substantial complaints about this jersey. If I'm being really picky, though, the text that says "You know you're getting an unfair advantage" on the zipper cover on the pocket on the wearer's right is a bit much. Thankfully for me, that text is small and not noticeable.

For those interested, the other pieces of clothing I'm wearing in the picture are the following:

-Castelli Scalda glove (CST00E4)

-Castell LW bib tight (CST00IU)

-Giro Empire ACC shoes (GIR003E)

-Castelli Quindici 15 socks (CST0352)

I have been able to try this jersey 3-4 times in some cool weather and it gets the job done. For me, I can wear it solo down to 50-55 degrees F on a sunny and calm day. It’s a very breathable piece that vents heat well when you start to heat up. The thermal fabric is very stretchable material, so this jersey can fit a base layer or two underneath when temperatures fall. It is especially relaxed down near the waist. The X-Stretch material in the arms is a tighter fit than the rest of the body with nice thin and tight cuffs around the wrist that avoid flapping. The three pockets can handle a lot of stress and I can easily fit an outer shell for when it gets windy/rainy. The rear pocket on the right side does have a zipper, which is nice for a house key or items that need extra security. It is necessary to wear an outer shell if you will be doing cool descending or running into a rain shower as the jersey is focused on warmth and breathability. You can stow plenty of riding essentials away with this jersey. I am 5 10 160 lbs and the large is too baggy, a medium would probably fit me perfectly. For someone looking to add a solid fleece jersey to ride in the dry cool weather, this is a great option.

Great Fall Piece!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

For one of those crisp fall days where it's not really warm out, but there's plentry of sunshine. First Impression - Beautifully constructed with a nice soft feel on the skin with a nice tight fit. I really love the cuffs that fully block the wind from coming up the sleeve without restricting movement. I've taken the jersey out on a few rides. I rode w/o a baselayer on a day in the upper 50's with full sunshine and a regular pair of riding shorts on. PERFECT! Kept me dry and held my heat in check on the climb and cut just enough wind to keep me warm as the sun dropped on the horizon on my way back home. Took it out on another ride around 50 degrees with a baselayer and ride tights on and again. PERFECT! I recommend this piece for anyone looking to ride at high output from 45-65 degrees. Castelli says it can go colder, and I can totally see this as I am one to get cold quickly. I am 5' 10" and 145 lbs and the Small was a nice tight fit. Sizes similar to other Castelli product, so go one size up if you don't like a super tight fit.

love this jersey, runs small

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

this is now one of my favorite colder weather jersey.
I recommend using it in temps between 58 up to 70 for road bike, for mountain bike 50 to 60 degree.
the chest area feels cool, not much wind protection, so if you are descending you will feel the chill... the arms are pretty warm. so at some cases i was too warm on my arms and too cold on my chest hehe.. an easy fix to that is to wear a velo vest for wind protection.

so in short, this jersey and a wind vest makes a great setup for cooler rides.
this jersey is perfect for mtb riding.

runs small, so order size up.

Great jersey!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Needed some cold weather gear so I ordered one of these and couldn't be more pleased. It worked well to keep me warm in the low 50's without a thermal layer (although if you're planning on a low impact ride you might want to layer up). The fit is not the typical Castelli snug; they added a little extra room so you can layer. So, if you're looking for a really tight fit, I'd recommend sizing down. Otherwise, I'd say it's true to size.

I'm happy with it

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

I'm happy with it. I have other Castelli winter apparel so I already know I like the brand, and the quality is high. I was not disappointed with this winter jersey. Fits small like everything else Castelli makes. Just right for my thin frame – – 5'10" and 133 pounds. I've worn it for five times. Lining is sufficiently warm for a ride in the low 50s with no jacket.

Good stuff all around

  • Size Bought: XL

This has quickly become my most versatile jersey in the drawer for 'winter' riding here in southern California. Never overheats but also never lets in drafts; it's kinda spooky how wide a temperature range you can wear this thing in. Definitely going to buy another. I have an XL and I'm 6'2", 195 lbs with long arms and it fits well but doesn't have much room for layering other than a thin base layer. The next one miiiight be an XXL.

Great for Fall, sizing larger than norm

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XL

Awesome Fall Jersey. Light fleece lining. Great for temps in 60s IMO. Doable to 70 or upper 50s. Note that unlike other Castelli tops, this one runs a bit more "loose". Many complain about their sizing but if you match up their scale properly, fit is accurate. It has very little to do with other manufacturers mind you.
I'm a 42in athletic sport coat fit. Castelli XL = 41.3in and XXL=43.3in. I've found this to be spot on. Race Fit Items like their Climbers jersey are painted on me in XL and ever so loose in XXL.

With the PURO Jersey the XXL is almost too loose. The XL is the better fit with proper sleeve length. I have 35" arms and the XXL is a tad long.

Jersey seems great but runs large...

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XL

I received my usual castelli size XL and it was floating on me so I'm awaiting exchange for a L. The jersey itself looked great, nice fabric layout and general design but unlike most castelli garments it's sized large. Looking forward to the exchange.
