Description

Perfetto RoS Glove

When designers at Castelli set out to add a glove to the brand's Perfetto lineup, they knew they had to get things just right. After all — the Perfetto name draws quite a lot of attention, and comes with a high reputation. Fortunately they pulled out all of the stops with the Castelli Perfetto RoS Glove, packing in all new materials, minimal seaming, and just the right amount of cushion to keep you on the road, come rain or shine. The gloves begin construction with new GORE-TEX Infinium fabric that offers water and wind protection on the outside, while a fleece layer inside traps heat and ushers away sweat. The gloves provide ample warmth, despite being deceptively thin, so you can maintain mobility and dexterous control of your shifters and braking. The palm packs in Castelli Damping System, or CDS for short, strategically placing padding where your hand receives the most vibration from the road, aiming to reduce fatigue and elevate comfort while you ride.

  • Brave the cold with Castelli's new gloves, come rain or shine
  • Perfetto designation required acute attention to detail and precision
  • GORE-TEX Infinium fabric keeps out the cold, wet, and wind
  • Fleece backing traps heat inside, wicks away perspiration
  • Castelli Damping System on palm absorbs jarring forces from the road
  • Grippy silicon details on palm improve dexterity on shifters
  • Neoprene cuff prevents the elements from sneaking in

I'm impressed....

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

All right; thought I would add to the review pile for this one because I'm very impressed after one wearing. I am very particular about gloves because once my hands get cold, they take a long time to warm up and I get very uncomfortable in the meantime.

I used these today for the first time; temps were about 45, and they kept my hands warm throughout my 90 minute ride. I could really feel the insulating properties of the Goretex because when I upped the effort level, my hands would get warmer; which has never happened to me with any glove before. In fact, when I stopped mid-ride to talk to someone for a few minutes, my hands got warmer. They are very thin so you really do get a good feel for your bar/hoods/etc. In fact, I think they could be improved with maybe a millimeter or two more padding in the thumb/forefinger area to give you a bit more cushion where you grip the hoods, but this is a minor complaint. Based on my feel today, I think that I'd be comfortable down to about 40 Fahrenheit with these; but again, if you're really cranking out the watts, they might be good for high 30s; we'll see.

One thing to keep in mind is that the fabric around the wrist is very tight and doesn't run very far. So the result of this was I felt some wind coming up my jacket sleeves. Not a big deal at 45, but probably more of a factor at very low temperatures.

Recommended if you're looking for a thin, warm glove that gives you good tactile feel of your bars/hoods/etc.

You would be forgiven for doubting the performance of the new Perfetto RoS gloves. At first glance, they barely seem more substantial than a liner, but the resemblance ends there. The new Gore Infinium membrane is incredibly effective at blocking out the elements and the Roubaix fleece liner is warm enough to keep most hands comfortable down to the mid 30s.

The gloves only consist of three pieces and offer the most "sock-like" fit of any technical glove I've worn. I normally wear a 9 in numerical sizing and the large gloves fit perfectly.
