Description

What's in a name?

Harboring Springtime race ambitions while living in a cold-wintered environment can put a kink in the best laid training plans when the wind whips up and motivations shift towards afternoons on the couch with a warm bowl of comforting stew. That is, unless you have Castelli's Women's Indispensabile Jacket waiting patiently in your closet as a constant reminder that it's possible to stay warm while riding in the cold. Think of it as the Gabba's burlier cousin, there to keep you rolling when winter finally starts to dig in and adequate winter protection is indispensable for a successful spring campaign.

The Indispensabile utilizes the same wind-blocking Gore Windstopper 150 outer shell found in Castelli's venerable Alpha jacket, combining lightweight, breathable stretch and element-blocking prowess to manage changes in weather and exertion with ease. Inside, this jacket boasts a soft, brushed Polartec Thermal Pro high-loft fleece lining to provide exceptional warmth without bulky weight. As a final touch, reflective accents boost visibility so you'll be easier to see in dreary conditions.

Castelli recommends this jacket for ideal warmth in temperatures ranging from 37-54 degrees Fahrenheit, but we'd happily pair it with a jersey and base layer in colder temperatures without any concerns.

  • A cycling jacket that helps you prep for spring
  • Gore Windstopper membrane keeps winter at bay
  • Lightly lofted thermal lining keeps body heat in
  • Streamlined fit minimizes excess fabric
  • Three rear open pockets stow essentials
  • Reflective accents increase visibility to others

Unanswered Question

Is this jacket water repellent?

Great bike jacket!!!

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

This is a great bike jacket! I wore it today in 45-50 degree weather with only a base layer underneath and was extremely warm but not overly warm. It breathes well and the fleece lined front and collar feels great and is extremely soft. The fit is good, it is a bit looser fit than a lot of Castelli products which I think is nice for a jacket so you have room to layer. The black and red looks super stylish and is very flattering. Buy this jacket, you won't regret it! If you have questions about any bike clothing- especially women's specific I am here to help!
