Pro-level protection.

Trying to choose between a heavy jacket and your standard cool weather jersey-and-warmers combo gets old fast, especially after you've chosen incorrectly a few times and wound up with stiff, frozen arms or spent an entire ride soggy and overprepared. Rather than trust your own weather assessments, brave the volatile shoulder seasons in Castelli's Gabba 2 Short-Sleeve Men's Jersey. Wear it with Castelli's Nanoflex Arm Warmers when the weather takes a turn for the worse, and you'll stay warm and able to breathe in windy and wet conditions.

To strike that difficult balance, Castelli crafts the Gabba 2 using Windstopper X-Lite fabric, a lightweight, breathable synthetic engineered to block icy gusts while still allowing sweat to evaporate at its surface so you stay cool. It's also treated with a water-repellent finish so that surprise rain showers don't leave you saturated, and Nano Flex inserts along the underarms add ventilation and breathability to a more sweat-prone area.

According to Castelli, the Gabba 2 works best in temperatures ranging from 50 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit, but your comfort will ultimately depend on how hard you're riding and how you choose to layer. And don't be alarmed to find the Gabba 2 fitting tight across the chest and shoulders when you first stand up in it; Castelli does this on purpose to guarantee its kit follows your body position perfectly once you're in the saddle.

  • Brave windy and wet weather in this iconic jersey
  • Clean race fit eliminates flapping fabric
  • Windstopper X-Lite fabric blocks wind but breathes
  • Water-resistant finish blocks light rain
  • Full-length zipper allows for mid-climb heat dumps
  • Silicone waistband gripper prevents a wandering hem
  • Three rear pocket stash spare tubes and granola bars
  • Reflective accents help you stay visible to motorists

Most Versatile Piece I've ever owned

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

This is my favorite piece of kit ever. Fit is terrific and true to the size chart. The Windstopper keeps out the windchill while the moisture breath-ability keeps you dry. With a base layer, vest & arm warmers I've ridden comfortably down to 40F and I've been perfectly comfortable in the upper 50's with just the jersey or jersey + arm warmers. I'll look to buy another the next time they go on sale.

Super Comfy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

Temp range is probably around 35 F with arm warmers to 60 F+. Have never worn a jersey that is so comfy. Advanced warning is that the arms are slightly tight if you are extra buff and the front is just a bit short. Nice length in the back. Overall it's shockingly warm for a lightweight, form fitting jersey.

Best Winter jersey ever!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

I've used this thing for a while now and I'm in love. The Gore windstopper is so amazing. I've ridden in low 40 degrees to high 50's and I've been just fine in the upper body. Now I don't recommend it with a wool base layer in the higher temps but a base layer works very nicely. I will be looking for more Windstopper material in the future for winter items.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: LARGE

OK. I'm 6'1" 165 lb. hardman in training. After reading the many reviews on this piece of sublime kit, I purchased the Yellow Fluo in LARGE which accommodates my long arms and torso.
Here in the PetroMetro I've worn it on early late fall/early winter morning rides where the temp starts in the mid to high 40s and warms to mid to high 60s. Perfect match with the Nanoflex arm warmers. I am looking to pull the trigger on the Black while it's a steal at the sale price.

worth the money

i wanted a jersey to wear in cooler weather and skip wearing a jacket.
its perfect for cool days with a pair of arm warmers.

it does fit small

My Go To Winter Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Gabba is one of the most versatile garments in my cycling wardrobe. You get the perfect combination of warmth, looks and a glovelike fit. The price I paid was way below retail and a few of my teammates have taken advantage of the sale and bought one as well.

So far I've used it temps ranging from the mid 30's to mid 50's. With a light base layer, it seemed more suitable for the mid to upper 30's to mid to upper 40's. Depending on your effort, anything more than might be a bit too much. One other aspect I like is the flap in the back which provides good coverage and if need be, you can easily tuck up inside the back of the jersey.

Love It

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Fits great. I'm 5'8" and 146 lbs and purchased medium. Snug so no flapping fabric in any position. I've worn it once on a day a tad warmer then expected. I did heat up but as the cooler temps come it'll be perfect.

Great winter jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

Jersey isn't waterproof by any means but an awesome addition to the closet for cool fall/winter riding when foggy or showers and don't need too many layers as it's pretty warm. Fit is typical Castelli which I normally wear a Large jersey in and was the case with this form fitting jersey which is pro fit on the bike in any position.

Great Fit and Versatile

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XXL

This is a perfect shoulder season piece. I prefer to wear this with arm warmers on cooler mornings, rather than a jacket. Comfortable, but, tight fit. The tail of this jacket provides great coverage for taller riders. I'm 6'6" and don't have any sizing issues. Probably one of the most versatile pieces that I own. Comfortable between 40-60 degrees, if paired with proper arm warmers, etc.

great fit

a plus at 6AM for the ride

Love this Shirt!

The perfect shirt for zero to 15 degrees (celsius).
Looks and feels awesome!
*Castelli runs small in general.

Excellent quality

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

I recently made my first Castelli gear purchase - the Alpha long sleeve wind jersey, and it is excellent. So I bought the Gabba 2 and it is made of the same materials as the Alpha: wind stopper fabric, made for light rain protection, etc. It is a very heavy material for a short sleeve jersey. I would definitely not wear above about 60-65 degrees, but for the in-between days, it is great, especially if it is very cool early on, add arm warmers, then peel them off as it warms up.

It runs small; I usually take take an XL in a cycling jersey and the Gabba 2 XXL is still very snug. Excellent product. I am now a Castelli fan.

I Have Four

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I live in the UK and, with our variable weather, I use this jersey all year round when it is likely to be changeable on a ride, when it is cool and/or drizzly. In fact I now have four of these tops - two of which are convertible; it is really handy to be able to zip the sleeves on or off. I certainly wouldn't wear on a hot day as the Gabba really keeps you warm but if I only had one cycling jersey it would be this one. It is annoying that they are so much cheaper from Competitive Cyclist in the USA when the shipping is so expensive to get it to my home.

Must have kit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

The Gabba is a must have part of your cycling kit. Keeps you super snug on those chilly days but allows your body to breath so you don't overheat. It's also great in the rain. The water beads on the surface and it simply runs off. The fit and feel is great. I'm 5,10 medium build but take a large in Castelli which is perfect. This is my second gabba and I would have no hesitation in purchasing a third.

Great for the hard to dress for day

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I have a long sleeve Gabba 2 jersey that I worked hard this winter as I commuted back and forth to the office. The long sleeved version was great for everything down to the low 30's (with a heavy base) to the low/mid 50's (without base). I did find, however, that those 55 degree afternoon rides were a bit too warm for me in the long sleeved version. This short sleeve Gabba 2 does a great job of blocking the wind and providing enough warmth to keep me warm without roasting me at the same time. Personally, I'd be confident in the short sleeved Gabba 2 from 45 - 65 in good weather. Rain would alter that equation.

Why the name Gabba?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

In August 2009, Castelli held a series of meetings with Cervélo TestTeam riders to ask them what their desires were for improvements to their pro cycling wardrobe.

Cervélo rider Gabriel Rasch (nickname "Gabba"), the '03 National Road Champion of Norway, asked for something that did not exist at the time.

A short-sleeve jersey for Winter/Spring training that could: (a) provide thermal protection for use in cold weather; (b) a fabric that did not flap in the wind and thus slow the rider down; (c) and a jersey that provided good fog/mist/drizzle protection; and yet... (d) a textile that actually/effectively vented-away the kind of sweat production generated during high-output riding.

In sum, Gabba (and his teammates) wanted a jersey that could protect them against the nasty, cold, wet, yet variable weather conditions encountered during training and racing in late Winter and early Spring in Northern Europe.

So, Castelli (in collaboration with textile leader W.L. Gore) developed a new kind of garment - one that would satisfy Gabriel Rasch and Team Cervélo. The rest is history.

The "Gabba" jersey quickly became such a favorite in the pro peloton that even non-Castelli sponsored riders would personally buy Gabba jerseys, blackout the lables, and race/train in them -including guys like Cancellara.

The Gabba short-sleeve jersey is designed -to match- with Castelli's water-resistant Nano Flex arm-warmers. Start your cold morning ride with arm-warmers (and knee warmers) on and remove later if/when the sun peaks out.

I wear the Gabba jersey over a mesh or light polypro vest baselayer for maximum performance. Castelli and Craft make great ones.

Sizing: Size up +1 from your usual street size, per usual with Castelli. Even then it will be snug -as it should be.

**The Gabba is part of Castelli's Rosso Corsa (race) line. This jersey is definitely tailored slim for the target rider: slim/fit/athletic riders.

My best winter Jersey

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

This is my second pair of Gabba 2 Jersey. I wear this from Temp 40-30 deg F . I just change different underlayer.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Med

HATE to return it! Beautifully made, handsome design, in perfect Surf Blue- but very tight up under arms and across chest- MED is too small for 155# broad-shouldered male, but the LRG might have a comically long tail.
This is more of a jacket for colder weather rides.
Buy the MED if you're 5'6" to 5'10" and pretty skinny.
