Castelli has done it again. I never tire of Castelli impressing me with their innovations. The Flanders Warmer is phenomenal kit for those who ride throughout the year and who often find themselves in very chilly climates. What impresses me maybe the most is that Castelli has figured out how to make their polyester base layers as functional as wool. I wear a lot of wool and have always been impressed by its unique ability to wick sweat and keep the body warm even when wet. The Flanders poly top does the same and adds a wonderful turtle neck which adds another level of warmth which was quite unexpected. As with most Castelli items, I sized-up to an XXL from my normal size of XL. Buy with confidence. This item will become a favorite.

I was reluctant to purchase this base layer due to the other reviews saying it fit very small, but I rolled the dice anyway and bought it. Backcountry’s customer service is so good and fast, I knew if I needed to exchange it, it wouldn’t be a problem. Fit was true to Castelli’s sizing and fit just like the many other Castelli base layers, jerseys, and jackets I have in size medium. Quality was up to par for Castelli gear and it was perfect for keeping me nice and warm. I liked the fact that you can unfold the turtleneck and pull it over your chin/mouth if you needed. I definitely recommend it!

I have some bibs, jacket, jersey by Castelli and am usually an XL (bit under 6', 41" chest and 180ish lbs depending on the season). Looks and feels like a great base layer but wow even small by Castelli standards. Could barely get it over my head and the neck is suuupper tight. I have muscular forearms, biceps and shoulders. I'm basically shrink wrapped to the point of uncomfortable.

Great quality base layer for cycling. Extremely warm and ventilated in all the right spots. Make sure you size up in all the top layers made by Castelli. I own base layers from most of the top companies, and Castelli's quality and features are superior. It is cut short in the front like a cycling jersey, so do not buy for snow mountain related sports. I wish I was able to find ski base layers of this quality.

How tight is it around neck? I wear a 16 collar for dress shirts. I'm XL with Castelli short sleeve base layers. Not looking for skin tight fit around neck tho. Also anyone know what the sleeve length is in XL?

Just got one of these on recommend, and so far it has been excellent! Lightweight yet very toasty. Venting on the sides help regulate temperature, and the front and rear are great for the core. The addition of the neck warmer is excellent, as it can pull up over the ears and lower face for additional warmth. It does run a tad small. I generally wear a large T-shirt, and went XL in this layer.

Tad small? Way small. Their "small" would be funny small. Materials, workmanship etc cannot be faulted. Definitely go up at least one size unless you are very short waisted and thin as a rail. RB their

Agree with Jeff. Is lightweight, but does the job. I am 5'10, 40 inch chest and usually wear a large and went with a XL.
