Fast Feet TT Shoecover
Generally speaking, triathletes and time-trial enthusiasts covet socks that fall somewhere between the ankle and non-existent, and while Castelli's Fast Feet TT Shoecover fall mid-calf, we'd recommend opening your mind to this higher cuff length. That's because Castelli packs in aerodynamics into every part, with a foot portion that smooths out the shape of the shoe, and grooved leg portion reduces drag.
- Drag-reducing shoecovers for every riding condition
- Maximizes aerodynamics by smoothing out shoe profile
- Grooved leg portion detaches are as it flows around leg
- High cuff wraps around calf to cut through wind
- Wind-tunnel tested with CFD analysis to maximize aerodynamics
- Silicone-coated stretch fabric wraps shoe
- Flat polyurethane tape keeps fabric in place
- Underfoot cutout accommodates cleats

I've read a lot about TT shoecovers and did not want a pair that would destruct after one wearing or need powder to put on. These seem to fit those requirements and they look great, too. You have to follow the instructions while putting these on. It's pretty easy then, and they do not get damaged. My size (Medium) was not available, so Kaylee, my Gearhead, recommended I size up. I was concerned I would have extra fabric. Not an issue. Though I can't verify, I think a Medium would still have worked, but the Large is not too big. Nice snug fit. I believe they are sized accurately, but they are a bit tricky to put on, so you could think they run small. The cleat hole is plenty big, and there is a hole for the heel pad, too. I would avoid walking in these if at all possible. That heel area is where I think you could do the most damage because the heel pad is barely exposed. If your heel pad is worn, you could be rubbing the shoecover on the ground. Unfortunately, no TTs scheduled in the near future, but if the weather holds I will have my own race and hope the seconds get knocked off thanks to successful training & these shoecovers! PS - my weight is not 41.5 - that is my shoe size in Sidi, in case this helps you with sizing.

Almost Great

I've been a time-trial geek for over twenty years now and have tried a variety of different shoe covers, searching for that balance between light weight, durability and a stealthy feel. This new model from Castelli comes pretty close, as it appears to be the same as those now worn by the pros. My biggest beef is that they are an absolute bear to get on. Here's a warning, order one size up, at least. I purchased a size Large for my size 44 shoes and could not even get them partially on. I exchanged them for a XL and found success; however, it still was difficult. The problem could be alleviated if the lower material had a bit more elasticity. Once you get them on, they certainly look and feel fast. They appear to be well made but take a lot of abuse taking them on and off. At this price I hope they are more than disposable. For now, I am going to limit their use to just bigger, more important events and continue to use my old Assos for local events.
